I hear ya......I have a Armalite and have been told I could have built a AR for a fraction of the price. Was just to lazy to look and or build one and just went to the local shop and pick one up with a warranty.

if you want a good receiver for the price, try these guys.

that's their stated goal, they were doing it back in the day when they were making the best cast receiver around, now they bought some new equipment and are making forged receivers. they know what they're doing.

Unless you want to buy 2 receivers you can use 1 AR lower for both, but there is a catch. This is for virgin receivers only.

If you build the pistol FIRST the receiver will be a "pistol" receiver, once done that receiver will always be a pistol. It is LEGAL to build a rifle from a pistol. It is ILLEGAL to build a pistol from a rifle. This means you can put your rifle upper and stock on the pistol and then switch back any time you want because the lower will always be a pistol. I am a fan of the Olympic Arms pistol uppers since they do not need the rear buffer stock sticking out.

I'd probably just buy two so that they stay seperate. Just to be on the safe side. The prices aren't too bad for the reciever alone.

STAG arms has the best quality and price for stripped receivers.
DoubleStar AR receivers are top of the line also for builds.
