wouldn't you assume it's a full metal jacket?!

Just what the name implies.... bullets with steel jackets instead of copper jackets.

I have some somewhere in my ammo collection.

That reminds me, I was surprised the 110 grain HP 270 bullets punched paper fairly well at 100 yards. Kind of surprised me.

Lefty - wouldn't a steel jacket wreck the rifling ??

hbbg - FMJs are not steel. Much softer materials are used.

Don't know if they are steel jacketed but I have a box of:
Western Super X .357 Mag 158 grain metal piercing
Box of 50 weighs 2 1/2 according to the scales

Had some Norma brand ammo for a Carcano that had steel jackets. Think the old 6.x mm mauser stuff had steel jackets too, esp. when used for elephant hunting...

Don't confuse steel with cupro-nickle, of which most silver colored jackets are made.

The only true steel jacket I'm aware of is Swiss GP 11. It uses a mild steel jacket over a lead core. Swiss bores are generally in excellant shape. Draw your own conclusions.

"hbbg - FMJs are not steel. Much softer materials are used."... SOME fmj are copper plated mild steel they will be attracted by a magnet. they do not wear the barrel any (much) more than copper alone

Some bonehead writer probably replaced "metal" with steel.

I think you are talking about steel core, jacketed bullets.

That makes it a steel, jacketed bullet, not a steel jacketed, bullet.

Some people don't know what they are talking about.
