The government could have handled the situation much better. I will admit they screwed this thing up....BUT....koresh was an idiot. He was the leader of a cult plain and simple. He is probably the one that started the fire and was just as responsible for the deaths as the government. Nuts like him need to be taken out. Just in a different way.

I remember watching this as it dragged on in the newspapers and the day it all went up in flames.
It happened before there was much of an internet so it didn't have the unbiased coverage like it would have been now if it happened.
We got what the big news media of TV and Newspapers reported.

Would you like to bet that everyone would die and the place incinerated if the government had stayed away from there?
Blame the right people, like the AG Janet Reno, the ATF, and Ann Richards for letting it happen.
The last time I checked, it was not illegal to be a nut. Where are you from?[xx(]

I believe they interviewed some former members that confirmed the nut case. Its OK to be a nut unless your harming other people. Apparantly he was having sex with every girl over 6 years old. Like I said, He should have been taken out but a different way. People who stand up for the karesh's of the world are the ones that really scare me...

    True, maybe; but so what.

Since when did the Government get the right to kill 80 or so people to make a simple weapons violation arrest on one guy?

They murdered those people for political purposes.

What did he need with all of the automatic weapons he had? He was the leader of the sheep in his fold. They would and did follow him to hell. Simple? I think not. Don

"I am not making a judgment on the actions of David Koresh, only the actions of the federal government, under the democrats."
-from my original thread - Doug

You seem to be trying to do the same things that the liberal media do - ignore the point and try to misdirect attention to something not relevant in the post.

    Is that your intent, here??

Believe it or not there are some people who do not need to hoard weapons. I think it was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that karesh was one of these people. Like I said before it was done in the wrong way. They should have arrested him in town before it ever came to this. This was about a psycho not just a plain nut....

By the way, it was never proven that a single full-auto weapon was possessed or used by the Seventh Day Adventists at Mount Carmel.

No full-auto firearms were ever recovered from the ruins, either.

It's a very simple step from "What did he need with all of the automatic weapons he had?" to
"What did they need with all of their semi-automatic weapons they had?"

... if WE don't watch out, the bells may tolling for US!

    Good post A1

    A G-Man plant/apologist here????

New flash slick.... Americans are allowed to hoard weapons if they desire, at least, in the former "Constitutionally Guided America". In todays increasingly globalized quasi police-state.....guess not.

Call Koresh what you will, I am not defending him. Bottom line, this was a major military style assault on a group of approximately 80 people, many children. If they were merely after one "crazy" or "psycho" guy (Koresh), he could have been plucked off any number of places.

In this old cops eyes, this was not justified, period. Focus on the issue please.

If you would care to read all my posts completely you would discover that is pretty much what I said. He needed to be got, but in a different way than he was....SLICK.....

I guess your just a little more hard core than I am doug. I'm just not the cult joining type......

    Don,

I'm not the cult joining type either. I think that there are (at least) 2 separate issues here - one is Koresh and the evils that he did to the members of his cult, and what should have happened to him relative to that - and the other is the FACT of the clinton democrat administration massacring American Citizens - men, women and CHILDREN.

I would have been happy to personally administer capital punishment to Koresh.

I agree with you that he could have/should have, been run down and shot to death without killing the innocents.
