Who has bought glasses lately?
Whoa.. Had my eyes tested. Been 4 yrs. Glock oma was OK..[:D] However I had a good problem. Eyesight is now better than it use to be. Say What? Prescription is not as strong. Now the shocker.. New frames.. plastic tinted windows < I mean lenses.. with discount $431 that included the eye exam

Nope. Thanks to you and anybody else who paid taxes last year, I got new eyes from the Marine Corps. They're doing PRK. It's a very good surgery, after the week or so of recovery pain. My eyes were corrected in March 2006 and I still have better than 20/15 vision.

You must have gone for rhinestones in the cat eyes Select-fire. My bifocals were not that much, but I do have a couple of pair of sunglasses that are polarized and no line bifocals that ran to $450 and $500. My single vision shooting glasses were under $200 with the yellow tint. 0 -
My glasses are very expensive due to my lenses. I can either have the thin, expensive high-index lenses or the thick coke-bottle plastic lenses. I opt for the more expensive ones.
And, I wear my glasses all day long. So, while a cheap frame would be nice, the more expensive ones fit better and feel more comfortable, plus they typically are more durable.
I think I spent close to $600 for this pair. I do have the thick coke-bottle ones on my sunglasses, but I'm not trying to look professional in those.0 -

I'm still on the same pair of glasses I've had since 1987 or 1988, and I'm still at 20/20 with them. I have a couple of newer pairs but don't like them as well (bifocals make me dizzy). The pair I'm wearing is slowly falling apart. I had to use liquid electrical tape to replace the little plastic things on the ends of the bows, and eventually I replaced the bows, after one broke, with ones from a junk pair of glasses that came with crap in an old trailer I bought. Then I had to scavenge a nosepiece from a broken pair of sunglasses. It's become a game to see how long I can make the old pair last. Total cost back in the late '80s was, I believe, less than $40. Am I cheap or what!?[:D][:D][:D] 0 -

Mine were $400 for the lenses alone, but that includes photo-grey. Fortunately my employer started an HSA for me last year. I could have got them at Wal-Mart, and it might have been cheaper, but didn't want to go that route. WM is the final option, not the first.
When I left the Navy, I made sure to get two pair of prescription glasses and one of prescription sunglasses. They were ugly, Buddy Holly things but I loved the price. However that was over 30 years ago and they are long gone.

I just ordered a pair last week, my co-pay was $65.00 to cover the tint, if I went clear it would have been $0 [:0][}:)][:D]

Just picked up my new glasses yesterday,

Just had cateract surgery on both eyes, $15,000.
Medicare paid for everything except the $147.000 -

eye ins. it pays off. i payed nothing ang got transitions, w/ scratch resistance and the whole ten yrds. i only payed for the contacts and there always cheaper 80 bucks. My vision ins. only pays for one or the other, next time get contacts. 0 -
My wife just did bi-focal no-line transitions in a rimless frame with the magneticly attached sunglasses, exam and some new $25 test. It all came to $285 out of pocket...insurance picked up the rest. Probably $450 - $500 without the insurance. 0 -

While listening to The Clark Howard Show a couple of months ago he mentioned an eyeglass web site where you could e-mail them your prescription and get glasses very inexpensive. I took his advice and sent them my prescription for no line bi-focals, tinted, anti glare, and new frames for the amazing total of $72.00 Check out zennioptical.com. I am very pleased with the glasses and received them in about 5 days after I placed my order. 0 -

Yep. I always fell for their "oh, frames are only designed to last for two years" line in the past. This time I said: I don't care, put the new lenses in the old frames.
That took a chunk off the total. Of course I already have a girlfriend and am old enough not to care if I look totally up-to-date, fashion-wise.0 -

Today I picked up my new gold frames and bi-focal trick lenses, for $10.20.
