Security light
My security light will finally be put in today!
I had thought about it for a while and finally ordered one from the power company. It is the big street light type that will light up the whole yard.
The cost is $13 per month and it is run before the power meter so it will not effect my bill otherwise.
I think it will be cheeper that the 4 150watt floods that I have been running to light the place up.

No i'm on York Electric Coop.0 -
I just wondered. Thought maybe sce&g went up on new accounts. Mine here at the house is 8.50 per month and my commercial account is 10.50 each. 0 -
Hey Bro,
bad news,
You better ask the electric company what type of light it is. I just had the same thing done at my house, only to receive a letter, from the power company, telling me that those lights are no longer allowed by federal law and will be taken down.
The Sodium Vapor lights are allowed to be used until 2010 or so.
The Mercury Vapor lights must be taken down NOW. The feds have outlawed the mercury vapor light bulbs, they can no longer make or install them, The sodium vapor will end in a few years.
Sorry I spoiled your good thing,
I know that I was not very happy when I called PENELEC the Pa power company and they told me the same thing.
YOU can buy a light at Home Depot and install yourself, just buy a bunch of extra bulbs.
By the way, this only effects the lights that are NOT owned by the government, such as street lights.0 -

They did mention that the type of light I am getting is the new type to conform to some law that was out now, and that is all they are installing these days. They are the type that put off an orange type glow to them. So I am sure what I am getting is legal.
But I am not sure what type of bulb it is.0 -
I rent my outside lights from the utility company. They know the laws, I don't. It is up to them to come change the lights out if they are not legal. 0 -
I suggest installing a light with 10,000 white LEDs.
Should light up the yard just fine. In fact, it'll attract the space aliens (which, btw, are not illegal aliens) that you talk about so much on your radio show.0 -
The bad thing is that these lights cant be turned on and off by the user(unless you climb the pole and install a switch),therefore rendering your night vision scope/goggles useless[}:)] 0 -

I will be installing one more light but it will be to where I can control it. I will only use it for when I am entertaining out in the yard to light up were I am putting my table at. But it will be a very bright light and will not be used all the time.
This light from the power company will be plenty to help keep unwanted people away.0 -

You just need to know how to operate them! A very brite spot light aimed at the light sensor will shut the light off without emmiting much light anywhere else![;)]0 -
I find that empty shotgun hulls or brass..works wonders on the property. Put up a Beware of Dog sign and post a NO Trespass sign at the driveway.( Which is not in Spanish ) 0 -

All maintenence on mine will be handled by the power company as they own the light!
I allready asked if there would be any additional charges to replace bulbs or anything and they said no.0 -

We're old fashioned.
We don't use electricity.
One barrel of low grade
whale oil lasts us a whole
year.

It is a joke he started about me. He thinks I look like Art Bell from the late night radio program Coast to Coast.0 -
Oh. Yes you do! Are you really Art Bell? 0 -

No. But I have talked to him on the Ham Radio a few times. He is a big time Ham operator and would often continue parts of his show on Ham after the national show ended.
He is a real nice guy to talk too.0 -
That's silly, Art!

Pigs are unclean animals. You shouldn't eat ham. Allah doesn't like that.0 -

They sure make short work of that type of stuff!
SCE&G took months to repair a burned out bulb for me. I sent them notices, called didn't do any good. Finally I gave them a paper stating they had 10 days to repair it or I would do it myself and bring them the bill. They sent a subcontractor out the next day.0 -

Ah. This is why you chop off their heads. Next time, they change bulbs faster.0 -

Now I got to get into the kid's rooms and put up better blinds as I do not think the blinds that are up will block enuff light out as it is right near there bedroom windows.
I got a few of those nice decrotive blankets that I think I will put up over the windows for them as they will look nice and block light out too.0 -
Just put children in burkahs and they are no longer worried about the light. 0 -
