loko 383 i am well aware of the national forests . infact nathanial mountain is only about 30 miles from me . i will not hunt public huntting land around here because of all the idiots. to me getting shot at is not worth the biggest rack or the longest beard . i can go on in detail , but i am sure you know what happens when you are in the woods along with somebody else that you do not know is there

Have you ran a add in the Review down to Romney? Checked with a local realtor about leases? (holly land company used to have farms let for $100/yr and up.) Might want to run one in the Charleston Gazette/Daily Mail pinko rag too. (they gots better coverage) Any closed columbia gas transmission (or whatever they call themselves nowadays) company property in the area? Permission is available though not advertised along with a key to the gates. (Although the locals will have been getting behind said gates for years)

We lost most of Jackson county a few years back due to wealthy professional people moving out to the "country" and posting everything up and also slob hunters from out of state and (mostly Kanawha county)imho killing livestock and ignoring posted signs. If thats whats happening where you are I feel for you.

Or try that Add Bulletin that's printed in Chas. The add is free! can't hurt.

Just remembered the Dept of Agriculture (is Gus Douglass still alive?) has or had a monthly bulletin that sometimes has people looking for help and caretakers all over the state. Just got to call em up (or write them) and ask that they put you on the mailing list.
may be able to do it online.
    good luck

    Allen

MINITRUCK83at one time i had about 1500 acres to hunt on and through the years it dwindled to the last 4-500 acres and finally it was sold . a lot of it came from people cutting fence , killing livestock and just destroying property. it just shows how stupid some people are ,if this would have never happened the owner might not have sold the land to developer

Might check with the BLM, and the State University extension service.

    Hope you find something.
