looking for a new knife

I'm looking for a new knife. I'm looking for something that has a pocket clip, lock blade, and can easily be opened with one hand. I use a knife a lot at work and when I do I have to be able to open and close it with one hand.

I bought one of these kits a while back.

I really like the size and shape blade. The problem is that I put so much time into putting it together that I don't want to carry the thing because I'll mess it up. Another knife I was looking at is this one

I've never owned a smith and Wesson knife before and I'm not really sure how well it's made. Any suggestions?

    I've been thinking about getting a new folder for some time now.

    Buck has a few new ones out that are really nice.

    I looked at a few Kershaws, KaBars, and CRKTs. The Columbia Rivers felt really nice.

    Looking at something around $60-70 with a blade length of 3-4".

    Any suggestions?

    I had a S&W automatic that I carried daily, and used hard for years.

    Well made knife, and served well. Lost it though, and miss it lots.

    If you tell either of those guys that I referred you, they might give you a really good deal - or maybe they'll hose you.

    For something off the shelf - take a look at Columbia River Knife Works(CRKT) or Kershaw(Ken Onion designs).
    I know they have a web site, so just Google them.

    HobbyGuy, although I appreciate your input, but please leave the problems you are having in other topics in those topics.


    Thanks folks for the input. I think I'm just going to buy a another kit and build the knife I want. This time I'll go a little cheaper on handle material. It's nice to be able to say the knife you use is something you made (ok, put together) yourself. Thanks for the help.

    Depending on what you use your knife for you might consider getting one of these. I carried a BENCHMADE for years and now that I'm selling and working on guns I don't want to mess up my good knives. That knife is actually a SHEFFIELD. Made in England. SEARS has it for $9.99 on sale right now. Being able to take the blade out and turn it over or throw it away and put another blade in, is a real timesaver sometimes. It is a quality built knife and I am very impressed with it (even if it is just a glorified box-cutter).

    I just bought this knife. Talk about being able to hold an edge. It's a torsen assist-open so you'll never need two hands. If the bar goes out, send it back for a replacement, free. It has a clip and fits in my pockets without me noticing it's there.

    Just push the thumb stud like you're going to open it, and the blade snaps out with no other effort.

    These meet your requirements. Left to right CRKT M16-13Z, CRKT M16-01KE, Kershaw Leek & Kershaw scallion. I prefer to carry the Leek

    Do yourself a favor and check out the Cold Steel AK-47...they are supposed to have the strongest locking mechanism on the market...very nice knife.

    Got one of them $9 Wal-Mart Gerber skeleton knives that I carry daily. Holds a good edge and if I lose it I don't get upset.

    Isn't interesting that the bulk of the Knives here are made/bramded here in Orygun ??
