Barrel twist question?

I just got a new custom barrel for my SA .45 Operator.
This barrel twists to the right.
The original barrel twists to the left.
What is the difference, if any?

    I dont intend to use it in combat, but if I ever had to I dont think id care about the rifleing, or the sights, as long as it did what It was intended to do.

    But I am curious to know if there is any difference if the round is twisting right v.s. twisting left?

    I got the barrel made only because its threaded for a suppressor.
    and have not fired it with, or without the suppressor yet.

    my guess is that it makes no difference, but I thought id ask just for something to do.[8D]

    Actually there will be a slight but noticeable difference in the recoil sensation. One will twist in a different manner in your hand than the other.

    kinda like south of the equator the water in the bowl goes counter clockwise when you flush[:D] the crap still goes where it will!! I don't think I've heard of it effecting accuracy..

    Left or right in your case likely makes no difference, however in one of those big cal elephant guns you can tell if the rifle is recoiling away from your cheek.

    so I just broke down, 2 .308's 2 .223's a 1941 German Mauser, 1 PS90. 1 .416 and 1 .50 cal. Barrett.
    all rifelings twist right.
    There all right handed friendly.

    so Is rifleing to the left for left handed shooters, or left handed guns???

    It would be my guess that the twist is reversed so that when the bullet travels down the barrel, the directional torque is the opposite that of the supressor threads so that it doesn't loosen.

    Right twist barrels only shoot accurately South of the equator. I thought eveyone knew this. You probably got an Austrialian barrel by mistake.[:D]

    A right twist tends to pull the grip away from your hand. A left twist tends to push the grip into your hand.

    The different twist should also affect your impact points, if fired from a Ransom rest.

    In the real world of practical accuracy, there should be know noticeable difference.
