Mark Got A Gig
Still in LA. Still living in his car. Joined a band a few weeks ago. Band is called some sort of project. Anyhow, they are playing their first show Halloween night at The Pike. The place is owned by one of the guys from Social Distortion, another band.
Maybe he will make some money.

Is he the one who had those problems? I remember you posting about it a long time ago. Is he doing better? 0 -
best of luck to him... 0 -
Those problems? Mark has always had problems. Some he was hard-wired with, and others were created by idiot doctors.
He doesn't process information the same way most of us do. For example, he got kicked out of the shelter where he had been staying. He was eating and sleeping for free at a church-run shelter. He didn't like the rules much: having to go to chapel, having to be inside by a particular time, and can't show up drunk. But, he put up with it. Then one day, he bought a guitar. $700 on sale. He said it was a really good deal. I don't know guitars. Anyhow, he came home to the shelter with this new guitar and the shelter manager asked him about it. So, Mark told him. The manager told Mark that if he had that kind of money to spend on a guitar, he didn't need a shelter.
To Mark's way of thinking, buying that guitar made perfect sense, and he doesn't understand why other people don't see it his way.0 -
...Geez David, I dont guess I see things the way other people do eithr. Mark plays guitar, he needs a good guitar, so he bought one..which would/could be a segway into a band which would have allowed him to leave the church shelter...I agree with him on this one...the church was wrong....[^]

...Oh, only the best thoughts for him on this endeavour!...[;)]

you never know with bands, people may just be buying lots and lots of albums of his band in the future.
Good luck to him0 -
Never give up on him Dave. May turn out to be the new Ted Nugent. [:D] 0 -

I won't give up, but I can't see Mark ever being as conservative as Ted. I'll just be a lot less worried if he ever gets a regular paycheck and a roof over his head.0 -
I'm all for him.
All my life I have "marched to the beat of a different drummer".
Somehow, we mostly get through it in one piece.
David - if you ever get a chance(and haven't yet done it), try reading "The Winds of War" by Herman Wouk. You might see some parallels.
