Cops: Man rear-ends car after traffic light turned green
Police said a drunk 75-year-old Wayland man was arrested early yesterday morning after telling an officer he plowed into the car stopped ahead of him at a light because green means "go."
Paul D. Keith, of 8 Bent Ave., was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, third offense, after demolishing his front-end on Fountain Street, then telling police the driver ahead didn't know how to play red light, green light.
"He didn't move, so I drove into the back of him," Keith told police, according to police spokesman Lt. Paul Shastany. "'When the light turns green, you're supposed to go and I did.' As a result, he struck the back-end of the car.
"He was confident in his feeling that he had the right of way, the green light - we weren't," the lieutenant said. "He was arrested."
Keith, who was also cited at 1:08 a.m. for following another vehicle too closely, sustained a minor head laceration after the crash at the Winter Street intersection, Shastany said.
A responding police officer spotted substantial damage and coolant leaking from Keith's car.
"He basically flattened the nose," Shastany said. "The front-end of his car was demolished."
The officer was taking Keith to the station so he could call for a ride home when he smelled a strong odor of alcohol, and Keith's account of events ended up coming out, Shastany said.
Keith is scheduled to be arraigned this morning in Framingham District Court.

i've wanted to push a few out into traffic during a red light a few times too0 -
I will normally beep the horn if they don't move, but if the horn quits working I might start tapping on bumpers[:o)] 0 -

If you have a mechanical problem pop youh hood, or get out of the car, I will then get out and help you push your car out of the way, once it is out of traffic I will try to fix your car to help you get under way. The people that I honk at are usually to busy talking on there cell phone to realize that the light has changed.0 -

Now, imagine the unthinkable happened: the car in front of you died and the person is calling AAA. Not all things are what they seems, not to mention that patience is a virtue.0 -

As I said, If your car dies, let the people around you know that there is a problem, that is what hazzard lights are for, If you are sitting on the phone calling AAA you are nothing but a road hazzard and a are causing a dangerious situation. Get the car out of traffic then deal with calling for help. It has nothing to do with patience and everything to do with common sence.0 -

there can be many hypothetical situations, what if it where an old lady who cannot walk let alone push her car, getting out of a car with oncoming traffic is not always an option, not everyone has the split second reaction time required as everyone else in time to put on flashers while giving the turn of the key another try
bump a car stalled for what ever reason guess who's wrong?, you'll waste more time than you thought you where going to save0 -
I prefer to let them get going again and then spin them into the wall at the next turn while shaking my fist out the window! 0 -

I finally got to do it !!
My car stalled in the Walgreen's parking lot, and as I attempted to start it, the lady behind me started blowing her horn.
I got out, went back to her car, and said: " I'll tell you what - you go try to start my car, and I'll sit in yours blowing the horn."
She called me a smart ass, and pulled around me to leave - as she should have done to begin with.
