Hey Foxie boy, The day I have to explain my actions to the likes of you will NEVER come.

If you DID explain your actions to me or to anyone else here I believe you would expose yourself as a free rider in the constant battle to try and save our gun rights.

"the nra knows what they are doing." Yes, they are making big pay checks. Building a burocracy(fiefdom), making themselves feel important by hobnobing with important people who know their names. Continualy asking for money that is not spent on lawsuits, which is only where the battle can be won. Constructing a big building instead of paying for lawsuits.
Now the nra will ask for more money to fight the new scrimish or all will be lost. The court cases are there, the nra needs to file the lawsuit. Of course the nra will once again(as in continually) say this is not the right Supreme Court and too many will believe our sacred cow. So once again the nra skates out. I know the SC doesn't have to hear the case just because it is filed. Of course if it's not filed the SC doesn't have to do anything. Enough is enough the nra is a white elephant just like the building.
Also, how many of you talk face to face with those Congressman who vote FOR gun controll, and write them letters? There is a formula that says for each letter they receive there are x number of their constituents that believe the same, and form letters do not count much. The opposition is on a crusade and the crusaders do what they are told - they write letters.
Face to face is important. Explain the 2nd to them, with supporting documents to give them and or to their staff?
Of all those I know well enough to speak about I am the only one who does this. I am not honking my horn, it is just that no one seems to do this and it is very important thing to do.

Would it have helped if the RA's were gun trained and carrying?

NRA is doing the right thing. Plenty of time to do battle at a later date and for those who seem to hate the NRA, who is going to lead the fight. Answer please, so I can join them also !

The answer to that question is a definate YES!

The second victim that day was an RA. If all the RA's were trained and carrying the second (and last) death would have been the shooter.

Since you apprently are not contributing any money to the NRA, why do you feel so much hate towards them? Surely even you would not deny that the NRA does at least SOME good for gun rights. You must have some kind of grudge or something because if you were smart, you would let the NRA continue to do what good it does (without your help or money) and sit on the sidelines laughing at guys like me who give a little time and money to the NRA, GOA and SAF in addition to contacting my legislators and other efforts.

Only a foolish person would try to talk others from contributing a little "free" help to try and protect their rights. You must have other motives.

tr fox, I am a life time member of the nra. I have no hate toward the nra. Nor am I laughing at anyone. The nra has begun to sound like con artists. The last Supreme Court was very conservative. Probably as conservative asit is going to get for a long time. No lawsuit filed. The nra has said it takes years to get to the SC and yet there has been times when the aclu gotten there in a matter of months. And yet no nra case is ever filed. I have heard all their reasons, yet history has shown those reasons to be boggus. The nra won't spend the money. The court cases are there. We will win. Then what happens to the nra? The fiefdom will disappear that's what and so will job security. So we loose more and more. The best that can be said about the nra is that the tide has been slowed. But it will not be stopped until the SC rules. The cases are there and have been for years.
Without my help or money. the nra has my money. Help? did you read the last 2 paragraphs of my post? Apparently not.
Other motives. OH! THAT'S RIGHT I DON'T AGREE WITH YOU. But let's be fair, have the GOA, and SAF filed a lawsuit?

If filing such a lawsuit is such a good idea, why don't you organize some other like-minded people and file the lawsuit yourself? Or if you don't llike the way the NRA, GOA or SAF is run, why don't you either get elected as one of the executives of those oranizations and run it the way you want? NRA has elections every couple of years. Not trying to be a wisea$$ here. just trying to put things in perspective.

The NRA, GOA and SAF may ask a lot from you but they DO NOT DEMAND A LOT. You know they do some good, so why not stand back, keep quiet and let them do what good they can/will do. And also of course continue doing what you are doing to fight for gun rights. It does no good to publically criticize the organizations that are on our side. All such criticizm does is to help our true enemies.

mcaso post makes a good point regarding lawsuits. Why haven't they done that? One reason might be that some of their big donors and most influential members might be government reps, like senators, who are in league with corpoprate giants. I have no doubt that the movers and shakers in our corporate and government world feel content with the status quo. Still, I like the NRA and its goals and programs.

...maybe they (NRA) don't want to give legitimacy to a bogus debate the lefty media and the anti's are trying to get started over this; takes two legitimate parties, to make up a debate...[;)]

I think the NRA is waiting awhile, as they did when there was a recent school shooting near the time of an NRA convention so as not to acused of politicising, posturing with no respect for the victims and their families.
I just upgraded to Patron member. I also send money annually to GOA and SAF. The NRA isn't perfect (if that's what non-joiners are waiting for) but neither is my church and I make sure I attend. Around here, alot of non-joiners are just too cheap, i.e., "the price of that magazine (as if it's about the magazine) will buy all the shells I'll shoot this fall, etc." I call 'em free loaders (unless they belong to GOA, SAF, DU, RMEF, Wild Turkey Fed., Pheasants Forever, etc., etc. which support the NRA) as they're getting the benefits of what these organizations are doing (much like a union) without paying.

    Freedom will never be free.

I am an endowment member of the NRA and proud of it. I am not ashamed to fight for our second amendment rights. There is a time and place for everything. What would all you lefties want the NRA to comment on? That would be like asking General Motors to comment about a fifty car pileup caused by one road rage lunatic.

Our enemies don't need any help. They have the nra playing their game. Every year we loose more and more. The slow creep continues and will continue until the SC rules. Are we afraid the SC will rule against us? I am not. Everyone says learn from the mistakes of others. I think it is past time to learn from the succes of others. The present game plan is not working, just slowing the tide. So change the strategy. What do we have to loose? After all loosing is loosing.
We all know what the nra will say about VT. And we all know they are going to ask for more money. If all the pro-gun organizations got togther to fund a lawsuit it would cost each of them a lot less than individually.
We have been told the court cases are there, and they are. We have been told what the 2nd is all about, and it is.
Call the nra and tell them it is lawsuit time. And don't let the nra off the hook when they say the same usual malarkie they have been saying for the past 30+ years.

File all the law suits you want. The SC picks what and when it will hear any case. They(SC) have turned down all cases to do with gun control in the last 15 years exxcept 1 and that was a apparent turn over from the start.
Try to know your goverment and how it works.

Da-Tank, I do know how it works. You are talking about cases where some one was arrested and charged with violating a law. Not one filed only on the merits of the 2nd. No one has to be arrested. Just that the laws are illegal under the Constitution. And cite the SC rulings that when put all together say so. This type of case is allowed. If the SC refuses to hear it, what have we lost? After all, that is what you said they are doing anyway.
