value of old guns still new in the box
How much does the box add? Blue book gives 100% but how much more do you add for nib? I am not talking about 5 or 10 year guns but some that are 20 to 40 years old or older. I have a few remington 1100 and 870 410's made in the 70's nib, browning superposed 410 nib made in 1974,2 browning 42 410 gr5 nib made in 1991-92 and a few others nib. Does the box add and how much if it does?
What do you think???????

If the box had matching numbers, I'd say at least a C note. It would have to be a collectible kind of gun, though. Doubt it would add much to a Winchester 37 or similar. 0 -
Plus 1 on the c note 0 -
Hey what about a browning a5 LT 20 made in 1972 that is still nib.
Does this gun only go up a c note with the box? And all the boxes are numbered to the guns.0 -
Do the boxes have any scratches on them? 0 -
List the guns and boxes on the auction and let the market set the price. You seem to have an idea as to what you think the boxes are worth. Want to share?? 0 -
Hey ramtinxxi Most of the boxes are in real good shape. The 870 box has one corner ripped and some of the others have a bad place or two but nothing bad or duct tape on them. All the labels are good. 0 -
HEY Duckhunter, I think the boxes adds different amounts to different guns. Some guns were bought and used and to find these type guns still new it the boxes helps the value. REM 1100 and 870 were not cheap guns in the 70's but they were not real high so most people bought these guns used them. Now you take the browning 42 gr5, I think alot of people bought these and just put them up, so does the box do as much for these? 0 -
MORE value of gun, = more value of box,,,,its that simple. Browning A-5 20 gauge,,,with box,,=== 200 plus,,,from what I see,,,imo,,of course,,nambu 0 -

Whether they add something to the value or not, it's still cool to have them!!0 -
anymore info on this?????????????? 0 -
How much more info are you seeking? Yes, it's been determined. Generally original boxes add to the value of the gun. The older and more desirable or more expensive the gun, the more the box is usually worth. Remington 870 from the 80's with the box vs. a Model 12 Winchester 20 gauge from the 50's.........I think the Model 12 box will add a bit more to the value!
Good luck. Are you thinking of selling?0 -

You would be wrong for doubting it. With any of the pre-64 WINCHESTER firearms (and the Model 37 is pre-64), having the original box will always siginificantly add value to the gun... sometimes as much as 100%[:0]0
