Pair of queens beat the pair of sixes too.
Maybe you should illustrate the poker game. Don't forget the cannon!![:D]

If his cards were all the same suit, (and nobody else's were) he would have a flush. Doesn't a flush beat three of a kind?
If he has two 6's, he cannot have a flush!
My opinion: He did not have a winning hand.

    Thanks---Peabo

    1 hand had 6 6 7 9 2
    1 hand had K J 5 4 4
    1 hand had A 9 9 9 3
    1 hand had 7 5 J Q 8

This old fart said he won with his pair of sixes

Better stay away from Vegus you guys! The art of winning in poker is how you play your hand as much as it is the quality of your hand. If the guy with the pair of 6s ran a good bluff and the three 9s and the two Qs folded, he's the winner.

nemisis - A Royal Flush is simply the highest straight flush.

In serious poker, 5 of a kind can't exist.

A royal flush is more than an Ace high straight flush. It is a seperate hand, not merely the highest possible derivative of the "lesser hand." If it wasn't, it wouldn't be listed seperately from and superior to all other hands.

A 5 of a kind can exist if you are playing with wild cards. Whether or not such games are allowed is dependent where you play and the rules laid out beforehand. There's no wild card games in casino poker, but in a home game or what have you, wild card games are routinely played, "pure poker" rules notwithstanding.
