Just picked Bry up for the weekend. He turned 1 on jan 5 and he is now WALKING everywhere.
that means all the cabinets need to be baby proof..I did the one under the sink and the stove tonight,Nunn can do the rest tomorrow.

I managed to survive early childhood before baby-proofing became fashionable. I only stuck a metal object into an electrical outlet once. Once was enough. Cabinets? I had to learn what "NO!" meant. A few swats on the hiney and I got it. 0 -
I dont mind telling him NO!!!it just the picking everything back up and putting it away again like my pots and pans.
Now as for the things in the livining room like my candles that he gets told NO. do not touch and he has done really good...0 -

We have our daughter and 14 MO grandson at home with us now, I spent a hour or so putting on cabinet latches to keep him out of things[:0]
It's not just a matter of telling him NO, I can't believe how fast that boy is when he sees a opening[:0][:D]

And with their attention span, they can be all over in just minutes. I survived my children's years with no incidents, and I found gates quite useful. Also, having many lots of different things to keep them occupied at all times.
Some people put things up, I, on the otherhand didn't, and they learned what they could touch and what they couldn't. Putting things up only makes a great target every time they come down, and how quick they move to it each and every time out of curiosity. Keeping it down, makes them bored with it eventually as well. This also teaches them self control at an early age, which works great later on.
Yes, I agree with putting the choking hazards away, but again, they can learn not to touch.0
