Lower priced, good 40 cal. "carry" with short...?

Can anyone suggest any good "lower priced" 40 caliber compact or subcompact carry models, please?

I'm hoping for something reliable and accurate to carry concealed, with a SHORT Trigger Pull in the $375 to $550 range. Are there any? I already own a Taurus Millenium Pro PT-140, but want another brand also with a shorter trigger pull, and low to moderate muzzel flip(I guess I want everything...HaHa!, but need your experienced help).

I'd love to have a subcompact Glock, but they are WAY over my target(affordable, for me) price range.
I know some sub compact Glocks come in 40 cal., and I'd like another 40 cal (liike both other pistols of mine are), because I want to get into reloading(and have 40 ca. reloading kit, not used yet until I get more empty casings) and want to make it simple with only one caliber for all pistols I buy new. But again, Glocks are too high priced for me.

Any suggestions(close to that price range), please?

    Have you looked at the Springfield XD40? They are at the top of your price range. Monday I looked at an XD40 subcompact with the stainless slide and the price was $589. I'm sure it's cheaper if you get one all black. They also come with an extra mag, mag loader, holster , and case.

    I bought my youngest son this Springfield XD not to long ago that's a great little gun.

    My personal favorite is my Kel-Tec P-40 that has been discontinued due to people not being able to handle the recoil in this little 14 ounce .40 Cal Semi Auto. They still make the P-11 which is the same gun in 9mm. A conversion kit can still be had for the P-11 to turn it into a P-40 though.

    How would you rate the muzzle flip?

    thanks, Smitty500mag. But I qualified for my CHL with a little Kahr 9mm, that kicked like a mule and was hard to get back on target in rapid fire.

    I don't own an XD but from what I understand its technically a single action but has the long trigger pull of a double. If I'm wrong someone will be along shortly with the correct information.

    SIG 239 is not quite as small, but is a fine weapon. I got one for my youngest son and it became his favorite.[:)]

    I don't know where you are shopping but I've bought NEW glocks for less than your price range. My last 27 was $350 LNIB. Right now the local forum has a group buy going on and the G22, G23, or G27 are all $450 new plus transfer!

    You should be able to find a Glock27 (subcompact .40) for under $550; I picked up my G26 (same, just 9mm) for $475 new last year.

    I know the local shop has a subcompact XD40 for $499 right now.

    See if you can find a old Star Firestar. Very small but all steel (so heavy) basic 1911 design, but not a 1911.

    Ruger P-89 or CZ 75B is the best for the money, both are great guns.

    iwannausername is right on target (pun intended). When I go to the Badlands, I carry my Firestar .40 blue single-stack in addition to my Beretta TomCat .32.

    I bought mine at a pawnshop LNIB for $170.

    I like single-action pistols, even though they are not politically correct.

    I was at the indoor range for a short time today and a fellow shooter let me shoot his XD 40 compact and I was impressed with it.Nice to shoot and I would buy one when and if I need a new one.[:D][:D][}:)]

    Before my Sig 239, my carry gun was a Star Ultra-Star in 40S&W. It has a polymer frame and steel slide. VERY reliable, though not quite as accurate as the Sig (accurate as carry guns go)

    Smith & Wesson M&P compact. I bought one brand new for right around $450-ish. It's a very accurate weapon. I have somewhat large hands, but I can still get a good grip on it because they have the grip extender things on the magazines. Nice trigger pull, too.
