My sister-in-law lost her job a few months ago (her own fault). I gave her all of the information on how to collect unemployment but she didn't because "you have to post your resume on career builder." I also asked if she saw the paperwork for getting the hope credit (or whatever its called now) on her taxes. She said that she didn't know that's what it was and she already filed so she doesn't care. Mind you, that is a $2500 credit.

She recently got a job at Macy's which she knew was temporary. After less than a week, she quit because she found out that when the person comes back, she would only be scheduled for 4 hours per week. We had already cut her rent in half because she is going to school and we told her that we wanted that to be a priority for her and haven't asked her for any money since she lost her job. My mother-in-law who also lives with us slipped $200 under her door when she realized that she probably wasn't going to school because she didn't have gas money.

It's to the point where we've stopped trying to help because she won't do anything and just treats everybody like crap all the time.

I haven't actually seen her for 3 days now. She stays in her room the whole day. She comes out to eat, possibly only once a day, when she thinks nobody else is home. Other than coming out to use the bathroom she just hides in there all day.

On the one hand, she's doing it to herself so I don't really feel bad for her. On the other hand, it is affecting us as well and I don't want it to get to a point of no return.

    Any suggestions?

Someone mentioned depression up here the other day.

A lot of people have this issue and will not get help because they think it will make them week or appear to be week.

I know a wifes friend that is bi crazy or bi polar and she will not get the help she needs.

She will flip out for know reason get everyone mad and 10 minuets later is happy and wondering why everyone is mad at her.

She balled up her fist to hit me and i told her that i have never hit a lady and i will not hit her but that i would ball her up in a ball and hold her there until got her senses back.

I take 3 different medicines for depression. When my mood gets beyond where it should be my wife will tell me to talk to my doctor. My wife noticices the changes faster than i do.

I also take Klonopin to help me sleep.

I have never wanted to hurt anyone or myself. I would just get moody and want to be by myself.

My depression came from cancer 8 years ago. Im not happy i can not work. I believe i should be working and my wife should be home. Not the other way around.

My wife does not mind me not working. She knows that its not possible. She leaves me a list of things she wants done and i do them as soon as i can.

I have about 1 hour of work in me a day. If i go over that then i will be useless for 2 or 3 days.

I went from being in charge of 1.5 million dollar jobs to reading or piddling around.

I was one of the people who loved working. I averaged 86 hours a week 1 year.

So if you feel like you need a little help there is nothing wrong with it.

As a matter of fact my doctor who prescribes my medicine told me that i needed to shoot more. She asked me what i liked to do as a hobby and i told her fishing and shooting. She told me i should fish more.

I told her that i can not fish for long periods of time due to pain and i hate to go fishing with my friends and put the boat in the water for just 3 hours of fishing.

She then asked about shooting and i told her that i could shoot just about all day if i wanted to.

So she told me to shoot as often as i can.

If you need help get it. Especially this time of year.

Just remember depression is not about wanting to hurt yourself or others. For people who are sad or depressed there is help for you.

All you have to do is ask for help and things will get better.

I will say it might take some time to get the medicine just right for you.

I have had the toughest 4 months of my life. I think I need to buy a gun or two. I just can't seem to kick it.

I was feeling a bit depressed the other day, so I called the Help Hotline.

I was put through to a 'call center' in Pakistan.

I explained that I was feeling suicidal.

They were very excited at this news and wanted to know if I could drive a truck or fly an airplane....

I pray that no one here gets it. The people who had negative remarks about Robin Williams do not understand.

People who have never had to deal with this illness surely do not understand.

When i was going through cancer i got depressed for about 1 year. Imagine going from working 60 to 80 hours a week and lifting weights or running before or after work. And then all of a sudden walking 20 feet to the bathroom and you are wore out.

Imagine your 6 year old grand son coming to see you and asking why i cant play catch today and falling asleep while he is talking to you.

Imagine going from making pretty good money 80000+ a year to making nothing. Worrying about hospital bills. Waking up at night and seeing your wife crying because she is worried about you.

People should never judge someone based on their opinion. You have not walked in his shoes. Yes he was rich and famous but money does not buy happiness. Robin Williams had serious problems. None of us knows what that was. I am sure he was going through hell at least in his mind.

I find it strange how educated people can say some of the things that they do. Like someone said a long time ago (Never judge someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes.)

I still get depressed/sad sometimes. I would love to go rabbit hunting or squirrel hunting but i cant walk through the woods anymore. I would love to go back to work. I was the type of person who loved to work. I hate my wife working while i am at home. It makes me think i am taking advantage of her. I am the one who should be providing for her not the other way around.

Some people also have a hard time coping in life for various reasons. Like i said earlier at least walk a mile in their shoes before you judge them. None of us are wise enough to look at someone and judge them for what the do or did.
