WTH is this? Is this guy kidding?
A CCW "badge"? I guess this is for the wanna be LEO's out there (ie: people that can't make it into law enforcement for one reason or another, so they pretend by carrying a badge)? If someone showed me one of these, I'd laugh in their face. [B)]

That's a riot! MosinNagantDisciple said it nicely. "Goober" [:D]0 -
Atually I wouldn't mine one like the one in the top left:
http://www.nles.com/store/customer/home.php?cat=158
The old Texas Ranger type.
But It would not be to carry with me! I would make a display for the fire place mantle with a couple guns and that type of badge in the middle of the display.
But I do agree that anyone who would carry something like that on thier person is an IDIOT!0 -

Any person that buys and carries one of those does not have the maturity to own a firearm as far as I am concerned. 0 -
Lots of people live their lives in a fantasy world.
Oh, gee... that would be me - without the badge.

+1 I agree!
Just for grins, I wrote to the seller and questioned why he would offer items that would assist rapists and robbers. Coincedentally, he then modified his description to include the following blah, blah:
"The above Badges are offered to the General Public as Novelty Badges only. The Badges are not intended nor do they give any implied or expressed authority. If used as an Identification it is strongly recommended that the bearer of the above badges are licensed by your local and/or State government. It goes without saying the impersonation of a Law Enforcement officer is not only dangerous it is a crime, in most states it is a felony."
Then he wrote back to me with this load of cow pies:
"As an active LEO we do not have an issue with this item if used correctly.. As a retired officer I'm sure you are aware that you can not legislate responsibility or character. The proper use of a CCW badge in some states have a legitimate use. If you will note we have a a disclaimer to the effect that impersonation is etc etc. Thank you for your opinion - that is what makes America great - Free Speech - Free enterprise."
It's interesting that he replied in a plural sense "As an active LEO we do not have an issue with this item"...... He must have a mouse in his pocket. [:D] I guess it takes all kinds of people to make this world what it is. [;)]0 -

There is one scenario where having such a badge might be helpful. Cops warn about civilians standing around with guns in their hands after a righteous self-defense shooting being mistaken for criminals by cops responding to the "shots fired" call. Plain clothes cops get shot and so do law-abiding gun owners who don't ID themselves fast enough. Masaad Ayoob has suggested holding your driver's license overhead like a cop showing an ID card so why not show this badge, instead?
Yeah, some guys are playing Dick Tracy by carrying one.0 -
I was going to bid but you guys shamed me out of it... 0 -

+1 That's what I advised him of. It is here in Montana, Wyoming and Idaho (and I believe it is in California too). I remember reading a report about some assclown that flashed a bogus badge on the 5 Fwy in California. According to his passenger, the guy he flashed the badge at shot him in the face with a handgun (turned out to be a .44) and blew off 2/3 of his head. The bogus badge was noted in the report and was "likely the cause of the incident." Road rage is one thing, trying to show-off is another. There's one thing for sure, he won't be doing that again. Buy it. Worth ever penny.
1) Clip badge to belt.
2) IPOD earbud in ear.
3) Enter any 7-11 and make your favorite large coffee.
4) At the register:
a) touch earbud (pretend to listen)
b) speak into your cuff "What do you mean the President is leaving...ON WHO"S AUTHORITY?"
c) Display badge and loudly say "Secret Service Emergency"
d) Exit quickly talking into cuff: "I'll follow in my personal vehicle...over and out!"
Works every time and the Pakistani clerk will be glad you didn't arrest or shoot him. In no time the badge has paid for itself.

I guess I better stick to my ball cap with the revolving red light then, I wouldn't want to look stooopid. 0 -
