Personally, I will never spend a thin dime in that depraved cesspool for any reason. My choice. Nice pics though. 0 -
beat me to it nice pic's
taz0 -
Im not spending a dime either-The assigned me to the plant in Fremont but are paying for the rent-this was one of the things ive always wanted to see
cant say much about the town (SF)-really dont like it but there is a beach and a park north of the bridge that is nice we went to0 -
Nice pics. It's kind of trippy when on top of Hawk Point to see Hawks surf the wind and see the fog go over the side of the hill. Been to Cronkite and up north from SF yet?
Oh yeah, on a clear day like that, go up Mount Tamalpais, it's about 30 minutes from the bridge -- very nice views.0 -
quote:They assigned me to the plant in Fremont
Permanent or temporary? How long ya there for?0 -
Temporary-only here for nine months (leave june 08)
I am working at the GM/Toyota plant then being assigned to another Toyota plant in the US
we went to Muir woods and Muir beach-we went up some smaller hills but were pressed for time so we went to the bridge-it is very nice north of the bay0 -
If you keep on going past Muir beach, you'll get to Stinson, don't stop there, continue on going and make a first left after you go past a little tidal area on the left, it's probably about 2-3 miles from Stinkson, then at a stop make a left and go all the way to the end. That's Bolinas, as long as you don't surf there, it's an interesting place to see. 0 -
Thanks
we got a long list of places to see while we are here-ill put it on0 -

It's just a little hippy beach town, good to stop for lunch or breakfast, walk on the beach and go up the hill for views.
I always recommend (and take people that way) to go north on Hwy 1 to Bodega Bay area, Fort Ross is an interesting place to see, maybe spend a weekend in Point Reyes, definitely see the lighthouse there, though make sure you can walk about 300 stairs.
South of SF - take a drive on Hwy 1 from Half Moon Bay to Santa Cruz. I don't know what's there to see in SC except hippies and surfers and surf museum but it's a nice drive. Well, there's some cool historical stuff on campus but that's all I can think of. And from there Hwy 1 to Hearst Castle via Monterey. Monterey's got some cool stuff, aquarium is one, 17 mile drive, good food, golf courses if you play. Hearst Castle is worth a visit I think but you have to plan it ahead.
And if you're into hiking and camping, Henry Coe park is probably one of the coolest places I've hiked, though it requires being in decent shape 'cause it's all canyons and you can hit places with 1500' climbs over 3-4 miles. Can't bring guns into the park, and the closest BLM I think is in Holister, about 3 hours from where you are.0 -
California Is awesome. It should have been a separate country - it's the
same size as England or Japan. Been here over 50 years - and am a
consummate tourist - and still haven't seen all of it.
Enjoy.[8D]0 -
That really IS something to see.
Nice pics ya got there.
I am NOT going back.
Better you than me.
At least it only a temporary sentence. [}:)][;)][:D][:D]0 -
I've been to San Fran twice...never saw the top of the GG Bridge for the fog either time! I don't like the politics in California, and couldn't afford to live there in the same manner as here, but it is probably the most beautiful state I have ever visited. Unreal! 0 -
Nice pictures. Here are some I took in 1969. These were taken with 35mm slide film converted to digital with a flatbed scanner, so the quality is nowhere near as good as yours.
Impressive bridge, but I agree with Zip. It should be another country.

Russian, it's toast........whole park burned last month.
tatercats, if you want to get together for some range time, I'm about an hours drive east of you.0 -
Cool-thanks, I might hit you up on that-will have to use your weapons though, I left mine in Indiana
This is definetly a different place, but its only nine months0 -

Was that last pic in the ones posted from the 1969 visit, your living situation while in SF ?

I heard it burned, but didn't know how much. Looked just now, 46,000 acres. That is the entire park. Well, there're plenty of other places, the hills are great too, just a little cold in winter months.

You must be in Tracy then [:D]0 -
Those are great pictures. Why does it seem fitting that San Francisco would have a pink bridge?[:0] 0 -
Nice pics, but I wouldn't want to get on it. I have a slight fear of bridges. Actually, I just flat-out HATE bridges. 0 -

Holy cats my monitor is way outta contrast, that thing looked like flat red primer/paint to me [:0].0 -
The 1969 film pics dont clearly show the " orange " color good, too far away also.
In real life it's a flat orange primer like color.0 -
re: other country
I always tell folks I got to see three foreign countries when I was in the service, Japan, Korea, and California....0 -
Pink or Orange???
Must be the way the light reflects off this parade downtown, but it still looks a little pink in the pics.

Slider, You would really hate that one when the wind is ripping through there, it moves! You can see, and feel it in your car!
Tatercats, the Minutemen were marching on the bridge Saturday.......all these great pics and none of them?
Russian, not Tracy, in the boonies near Davis.0 -
