Looks like the wording is painted white. Isn't that a after market deal? My dad bought his 4" Python in Germany in 1968. It's all original and shows just a tiny bit of holster wear on the end of the barrel. The wording on that one is just pressed into the metal. 0 -

THE WHITE COLOR YOU SEE ON THE LETTERING FOUND ON THE BARREL IS ADDED AS A HIGHLIGHT.
COULD BE WHITE OUT, A WHITE GREASE PENCIL, PERM WHITE PAINT, CAMERA HIGHLIGHT STICK, ETC. ANYTHING THAT FILLS IN THE LETTERING AND STAYS PUT FOR A WHILE.0
