Looks like the wording is painted white. Isn't that a after market deal? My dad bought his 4" Python in Germany in 1968. It's all original and shows just a tiny bit of holster wear on the end of the barrel. The wording on that one is just pressed into the metal.

THE WHITE COLOR YOU SEE ON THE LETTERING FOUND ON THE BARREL IS ADDED AS A HIGHLIGHT.

COULD BE WHITE OUT, A WHITE GREASE PENCIL, PERM WHITE PAINT, CAMERA HIGHLIGHT STICK, ETC. ANYTHING THAT FILLS IN THE LETTERING AND STAYS PUT FOR A WHILE.
