A question on a Mauser HSc 380 ACP
I saw a nice looking Mauser HSc nickel 380 in a pawn shop. It was very clean, and was traded in by a gun collector. I believe it was dated 1970, and it was a interarms import model. I've never owned a Mauser. Is it a reliable gun. Any thoughts or info would be helpful.

...I had one, and was a great little carry gun. I was very suprised at the power of the little .380 round. Since it was part of a "deal", and I only had $50 bucks in it (99% condition)...when I got offered $375 for it, uh I could not sell it fast enough.[:p][^]
..and of course the guy that bought it...ask if "mauser" was a "name" brand ([:0]) he had never heard of the mauser name, go figure.
Thru 2 boxs of shells, it worked flawlessly, and was a sharp little gun...[;)

Thanks for the links. I'm really wanting to hear from users that have used this gun. Is it a reliable shooter, or does it have feeding problems like some of the Walthers do.
Bloviator...you had flawless action with yours, thats good to hear. I guess I would have sold as well with that return on investment.

A buddy of mine had one about a year ago. It was a neat little pistol. High cap mag, wouldn't shoot with the mag out, and a few other safety features I can't quite recall. It shot great and functioned flawlessly. I wanted it but he would only trade for a Glock 27. Not quite an even trade money wise so he kept it. Later the rascal sold it for %245. Didn't even offer me. Oh well, what are friends for. Any way, in my limited experience it is a good little pistol.0 -
I had one back in the 1970's and it was a sweet pistol. Very accurate and ran fine on ball ammo. They didn't use a lot of hollowpoint ammo back then so I don't have any experience with other types of ammo.
I too was offered twice what I paid for the gun and sold it off. Wish now that I had kept it. It has nice lines. Kind of similar to my Sig232 that I love so much.0 -
sig232...yes it is very similar to the sig232. This one is shiney nickel, with gold accents/highlites (trigger, safety, hammer), and wood checkered grips. It was owned by a collector, so I dont know if this was a factory job or aftermarket. All the others I've seen in shops and at shows have been black with black grips or wood grips. 0 -
YES OWNED ONE IN THE MID 80'S WORKED LIKE A CHAMP, NEVER A WORRY AND CARRIED WELL, MAG SAFETY WORKED W/O IT IN BUTT OF GUN.

Mine was nickel and had a nice finish, although it was owned by a pawnbroker in Miami and has some pitting from blood on one side. He didn't know full story about the damage but stated there was some violent history behind the ownership of the pistol. 0 -

check the throat of the barrel real good , some were a little rough and needed the buffing to smooth them out. Still have parts and magazines available , so happy buying ! 0 -
I have one of the nickel ones that I picked up several years ago. It is a good shooter. If you get it, you might want to check on the internet to get disassembly instructions. It is a little tricky. You have to insert the mag to drop the slide. 0 -

Nice guns. I bought mine to carry in my pocket but it was so nice I couldn't bring myself to crap it up. They are very reliable and shoot great. Make sure you read the instructions on dissassembly and how to close the slide when there are no rounds in the magazine. Not the run of the mill semi. (I didn't know they made "high cap" model, like FastCarsGoFast claims. Mine is single stack) 0
