Cannon Needed
HI All: I know this is crazy, but I want a cannon. Moreover I want it on a modern carriage that I can pull behind my truck. I have found a 64" cannon with 3.3" bore that weighs a mere 720#s for sale at Dixie gunworks for $2700. A 6pounder breechloader so no paperwork is required of the ATF.
I am advised that enonomy plinker projectiles R tomato sauce cans filled with concrete patched with cotton cloth lubed with paraphin wax. Dixie also has a locke that mounts over the flash hole and utilizes musket caps to fire it, and an elevation worm screw and the bore brush, rams etc needed for firing operations.
What I need is for someone to help me find the design for a carriage for it that will be on a straight axle and military split rims with pnematic tires. The barrel has cast in 3" trunions to mount the barrel to a carriage. With more weight in the back the muzzle will always want to cast up and have to be declined to shoot. Also the carriage needs to be long enough to accomidate a box for powder charges and projectiles, caps being transported in a separate container/location for safety.
I would also consider a finished cannon if anyone knows of one for sale. I am sincere and quite determined to have a cannon or MTN rifle.

Hey, as long as you are towing something behind the truck, why not get a Jon Boat w/ trailer, and mount your cannon on the boat? Fire it while afloat, and you eliminate the nasty problem of setting the firing range on fire! [:p] Now that I have finished pulling your leg, two things you can do- contact the US Army Ordnance Museum at Aberdeen Md, or the Artillery Museum at Ft Sill OK- OR- find yourself a group of civil war re-enactors that ALREADY have a cannon they fire. They can also offer you some good training on the does and don'ts of Cannon 101. Have a friend that has a brass field piece that he tows around. 4th of July is a hoot for him. Caution- they are NOT cheap to feed! 0 -

Mine is only 2-1/4" bore for pool balls -
My 16 year old won't let me sell it or I'd say make me an offer[8D][8D] The sites these guys listed are good and have some good resources for loading cannons. You should find either a good barrel or complete cannon not made by Bubba (I'm kinda proud to be a Bubba - but I also shoot well with-in acceptable pressures limits). Mine is mainly for the bang. I've shot it more with just wadding than with pool balls, but it will send a ball about 600 yards into the bay... I must say - they are fun as heck[:D][:D][:D]
