You could ask what make's it so rare, but I doubt you'd get an answer. Could be an M38, which would increase the value to a whopping $80. 0 -
Now you've got me started![}:)] "Rare" is probably the most overused adjective in the world of gun-collecting. I have a friend who finds a "rare" gun or two at almost every show. If they show up that often, can they really be "rare," or is he really that lucky? He told me recently he has bought and sold 10 or 12 "rare" models of a particular gun in the last couple of years. The numbers alone would seem to negate the word "rare," but I've given up debating it with him. I'd be interested to know how others define rare. To me, "scarce" is a better word. "Rare" should be reserved for those weapons you might see in person or on-line maybe once every few years, not at every couple of shows. A Winchester owned by Buffalo Bill Cody might be "rare." The same model for sale in great shape but owned by nobody in particular might be "scarce." What do others say about "rare"? 0 -

M1938 Nagant is certainly less common in the US than the M44 but I don't think that makes them "rare"
