A Dick of a Deal
I went to Dick's Sporting Goods last night just to look around at their sales (because their retail prices are usually too high). I (naturally) strolled into the gun room and spotted a Henry "Golden Boy" .22lr for $349. I thought that was a pretty good price so I took a closer look. I saw a VERY tiny dent on the bottom of the stock (about the size of a pencil tip) and pointed it out to the clerk. He called the manager and told me they would knock 10% off! So, for $314, I got myself a new toy! I've never shot one but from everything I've read, they seem like a nice, inexpensive little plinker. I've got an unfired Winchester 9422 made in the 1970's and still in the box and I won't shoot that so my Henry's gonna be my "fun gun"! [:)]

if its a small dent you can pull it out, I haven't done it but you can put a wet/damp cloth on it and go over it with an iron and 0 -

I've used that method many times in the past but this little ding is too small. An iron would steam some of the finish off and would not raise the wood enough due to its location on the underside of the stock. It's very tiny and not worth steaming off the finish.
Ironically, I bought the Winchester 9422 about 2 years ago on Gunbroker for $300 with the intention of using that for a plinker. However, with the closing of the Winchester factory, the 9422's have doubled and tripled so I'm just going to leave it unfired. [:D]0 -

Has the Henry wood to metal fit improved in the more recent years. I lookied at them several years ago and was NOT impressed. 0 -
I don't know anything about the Henry's, other than they are nice looking guns, but you should be totally ashamed to keep that 9422 in the box! Shoot that gun man! I have a 9422M, and it is my favorite rifle of all that I own. Great little shooter, kids love it, and the 22 mag is big enough to hunt yote's with around here. It is blashphemous to keep a sweet shooting gun like that on ice! [:D] 0 -
