Obviously, the USPS needs more money

We've got a substitute letter carrier on my route. I know this because my letter carrier is good and friendly, and when I spoke to him last week, he said that he was off for the next two weeks.
Yesterday, when I checked my mail, I had a notice from the IRS in there. After looking it over, I realized it wasn't ours and the letter carrier had misdelivered it. No big deal, I was going to drop it off in the letter box today and have it shipped to the right person.
Today, I checked my mail, and I had a credit card bill that belongs to my neighbor.
So, I take the time to travel to the post office this afternoon, with the two pieces of mail in hand, and ask to talk to the postmaster. After explaining that I'm aware that the letter carrier is a substitute, and that someone should verse him/her as to be more careful, the postmaster says, "What do you think I can do about it?"
I left, dumbfounded.
And, these retards are wanting to increase the price of postage again this year. [:(!]

Postal carriers will deliver better if they are paid better.
We have seen evidence that this works. Teachers teach much better now than they did 10 years ago.0 -
The beauty of government. We have a regular mailcarrier that constantly messed up several of my neighbors' mail. When they talked to the mailcarrier about it, she blamed the owners for not painting their last name on the inside of the mailbox lid. Quite possibly the dumbest excuse I had ever heard. The response you got was right up there with the worst things I've heard by someone in that type of a job. 0 -

Go online and ask the the U.S. Postal Inspection Service reps how to lodge a complaint against a postmaster who is unwilling to assist the public he is charged to provide service to, he deserves it: http://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/
Let them know that you would expect a polite, professional response that would help to expedite the delivery of someone's mail instead of delaying it with a wise remnark and no corrective action.0 -

There is a point where you don't let people walk all over you. When I leave a person I have said all that I what, because 15 minutes later ain't gonna do any good.
I have raised my voice and talked in a forceful manner many times, but when I walked away I have said all I intended and left no doubt how I felt to the person I confronted.
I have never even thought about someone thinking I was "high strung".0 -

I used to work for the USPS. Most of the employees do their job correctly. Some don't. I was the regular carrier on a route. I went on vacation for a week. When I came back there was this big bundle of mail for one apartment building. The apartment building had double doors at the entrance. One side had the floor/ceiling locks engaged. The other side was always open. [8][8]The sub tried the locked door each day and brought back the mail endorsed "apartment door locked".[8][8] The sub was too lazy to try the other door.
If you have a problem complain complain complain! Do it on line or over the phone. It will be out of the local postmaster's hands.0 -

This meeting took place at the counter, not in an office. If this was in an office behind a closed door, that would be one thing. I don't get mean in public.0 -
There is a chain of command in the postal service. Go high enough, and you can get things accomplished. Unless it's deliberate, or fraudulent, I don't believe simple mis-delivered mail falls within the postal inspectors field.
We were going through new carriers for a while, since the old one quit. I have two boxes on the road, where we have mail delivered. Both boxes are mine. This new carrier started writing on my mail in big bold letters. Telling me to inform the sender of my correct address. This would copy through the mail with carbon copies inside.
I talked to her and told her that they were both my boxes, and to quit writing on my mail. It continued. I called and talked to her supervisor, told him the story, and was promised something would be done. It continued. I then went down to the post office to confront the postmaster in person, since he would not return my phone calls. I was NOT a happy camper, and didn't pretend to be. I named the next person that I would be talking to, if he did not fix the problem. We had a new carrier the next week.
You know that our post office is as small, or smaller, than Littleton's. I don't mind being labeled as "high strung" I called that postmaster once since then (on an unrelated topic) he called me back right away. [;)]0 -
