One of my favorite westerns. Nearly every episode some badguy messes w/Lucas McCain and get's his @$$ shot off. I loved the MAD magazine spoof on the program. In every scene, the hills surrounding North Fork are filled w/tombstones reading "killed by Lucas McCain".[:D]
BTW: Chuck Conners son has been making the gunshow circut as a vendor. I saw him at the last Wannenmacher show in Tulsa. He looks somewhat like his dad, but not as tall and w/long hair. He has a replica of his dad's rifle for show. I told him the above tale of how much I loved the Rifleman program. He was not amused. He prefers to cite the wholesome moral life lessons exampled in the show.

Mare's Leg, Model 1892 Winchester 44-40 for Steve McQueen.

Not the 45-70's in his belt.

I try to watch the show on the Western Channel every evening, they show 2 1/2 HR episodes. The guy thats the informant during commercials (Bob? Bells?) explains alot of western history. He's been showing some guns of the west and he said the guns used most on the set was the Colt .45 and the Winchester 44-40 rifle because they were so reliable and the S&W's along with most others of that day was bad to jam? So on the set these were by far the two most used.

Anyone notice Conners switched hands when shooting? Sometimes left, sometimes right..

And in one ill-fated episode: from the middle! [xx(]

I remember back in the 1970's, one of the girlie magazine (Hustler I think) ran an editorial w/pics of TV/Movie stars that had been in gay porn movies. It listed both Sly Stalone and Chuck Conners in their early pre-star years. If it wasn't him in the pics they showed, it sure looked like him!

If a fine up-standing, model citizen like Larry Flint said something...it must be true.[V]

    NOT!

Sylvester Stallone DID star in a porn flick: "The party at Kitty and Studs" also known as "The Italian Stallion". He was "Stud".
