Found "breaking news" on the "Virginian-Pilot" newspaper. The link seems to be broken, however. It does say that the deal includes "jail time." Whatever the time, it is not enough!

The Washington Post says he will "likely serve 12-18 months in prison". I can't see an NFL team hiring him with that conviction and sentence. 0 -

I think people get much more upset when someone hurts an animal than they do when someone hurts another human being.
I don't condone dog fighting but I don't think it should be a felony. And I don't even like most most professional athletes. Most have no class.0 -
I think Vick should do jail time but it sounds like he is getting more jail time than child molestors or people who committ violent crimes against PEOPLE. 0 -

from what i read the NFL wil not be suspending him from play until after his jail time. so with the fact of his age(28 i think), 1-2 years in jail then a 1-2 year NFL suspension he would be 30-32 with 2-4 years off the field. i don't see much of a comeback for him in the nfl. he couldn't throw the ball anyways 0 -
It will be interesting to see what the agreed jail time is, where he will serve it, and how soon he'll get out for good behavior.
Atlanta will go after their prorated signing bonus, and he could end up working a a car wash in his old age.

Damn, I get to correct a lawyer.
On a Federal sentence, you get 52 days off, per year, for good behavior, if your behavior is good.
So, if you get three years, and one year, you are very bad, and the second and third years you are well behaved, you will get 104 days off of your sentence.
Or, in a given year, you might get into just a little trouble, and you might get just 25 or 30 days of your good behavior time reduction.0 -

Doesn't matter what he "agreed" to in the plea. The judge can use his own judgement to set it at what he feels is sufficient for the crime. Even if he "agreed" to a year, the judge could sentence him to 5.0 -
The Fed system is very structured. Lots of minimum guidelines etc.
It really depends what crime(s)on in which he enters a guilty plea.0 -

1st the defense offered a plea deal he didn't accept one...the judge will look at the info and will decide whether or not he will accept it or not!!! Story is a bit deceiving... at this monent there is no agreement...ONLY AN OFFER by the defense!!!0 -
Saw an interesting little article in our local paper. A local guy was convicted of cruelty to animals - specifically, beating a dog to death with a club or ballbat - and he got 2 to 4 years. So, maybe Vick's expected sentence isn't unusual at all, even if he is a celeb. 0 -

Maybe he'll get an early out if he's good - but Virginia hasn't filed their charges against him yet and they are a NO PAROLE state! [}:)]0
