Ever Make a 'Revenge Statement?
A friend of mine sent me this ... have you ever 'made a statement' by doing anything
like this 'revenge payment?'

My management company sucks, and in an act of protest I plan on paying the last
month's rent of my lease in pennies, 100,000+ pennies.
I've already called BofA and they told me I can come in on Wednesday to pick up the
pennies. They come in 42 boxes of $25 per box, and will weigh somewhere between
550-650 pounds. Oh, and I also plan on unrolling all the pennies before delivering
them to the management company's office. After delivering them, I'm going to ask
for a receipt.

Your friend is an idiot (I'm shocked). Who is he getting revenge on the management company, or the kid who makes $8.00 an hour to have to deal with all of the pennies?
And for all the high rollers you claim to tag along with this guys time sure doesn't seem to be worth very much. This is at least an afternoon if not a full day project.0 -

There's a rather eccentric old fella here that is extremely anti-gov., and
several years back he did just that...paid his taxes in pennies, several wheelbarrows loads, from what I understand.[:D][:D][:D]0 -

If I recall correctly, you are not beholden to accept any payment in change that totals over $10. If they refuse payment, he will still be legally bound to pay his last month's rent and any late fees that accumulate. 0 -

You'd think legal tender is legal tender, but there's a cap on how much change people are required to accept.0 -

i did the same thing to a fleabayer who give me a wrongful {and my only} negative feedback, i think it cost me as much to ship them as the payment, i sent them in poster tubes, the beach called the police and claimed it was a pipe bomb, it was actually funny because everyone involved thought she was a nut case
she sent me the product before payment, before i even got it she negged me, and threatened to kill me{lol} within three days of the auction end, to boot she sent the wrong item, i felt good about it, i paid her as i promised even after she lost her mind0 -
Some states may have statutes regarding paying with change. As I recall Maine has limited it to $2.50 max.(this was 25 years ago). A guy tried to pay a parking ticket with pennies in a jar also filled with dirt and worms. It was not accepted as legal tender. 0 -
I know a guy who paid off a $500 bet by putting it in all pennies in a 5 gallon water bottle then covering them with honey. Needless to say, he was a sore looser![}:)] 0 -
I had an uncle who years ago was caught for jacking deer. Fine was $50. at the time. He went to court and was found guilty as he knew he would be and fined $50. He had a paper bag of $50. in pennies with him and walked up and dropped it on the judges desk. Judge then gave him 10 days in jail in which to count and roll the pennies. Had a guy walk into the county jail to pay a traffic ticket back in '74 or '75.
He had a paper bag which he said contained 150 $1 bills, all wadded up. I told him he'd have to wait while I counted them.
I straightened them out and started counting the bills, quietly. I noticed he wasn't paying much attention to my counting, so I 'skipped' one.
As I was finishing, I started counting out loud ..... 145, 146, 147, 148..... 149.
"Oh, excuse me sir, you seem to be $1 short. Please count the bills again for me in case I made a mistake."
He had that 'look' on his face, the look that his little dig at the ticket had backfired. Then he said, "You got me, don't you?"
I said, "Sir, all I know is I only counted 149 $1 bills. Please count them for me."
He counted the bills and all I had to do was make sure he counted all of them.

I worked for a good man for many years until he died,he was very wealthy and carried no health insurance ,once he had to go to the hospital for some outpatient work,when he got the bill there was $900 on it for some sort of specialist,when he asked about it he was told the guy was on standby just incase he was needed,there was a pretty heated discussion about paying $900 for someone that did not do anything,,in the end he payed the money,,,$50 a month,,,in pennies,,and would make them count everyone of them and then give him a receipt,,, 0 -
my cousin wife had a run with lupus
she was in the hospital for quite some time, after they let her out the bills started to come in, 9 yrs later they finally get the bills paid off. the funny part, they were no longer married, but he was responsible for the bill.0 -
$10 limit? start paying off the rent now in $10 increments.
Its what, $1,000? you'll only have to make 100 trips delivering a box with $10 in pennies.
Or just walk in, drop of $10, walk out, walk in again.....
