Is this a joke? I don't get it.

What recall? That looks like an old gun. Do they even still make bolt action shotguns?

I bought one for 20 bucks at a garage sale a few years ago, thought Id just buy a bolt and be all set. Im thinking of making a lamp out of mine. (583.16)

If you send Sears the bolt...they will give you a $50 gift certificate.

They used to give $165 for the bolts. I wonder how they decided to change that figure? Someone at a meeting somewhere says...."HEY, lets give them a pair of shoes in exchange for those shotgun bolts we make a while back...the ones that could come apart and shoot you in the face!"

I finally did get an answer which instructed me to call the shop.

    I did so.

I explained that this gun is on Sears recall list.

Several hours later the auction is still there....

    Nobody's bidding though.

That gun is in much nicer shape than the average Sears bolt action.

Hopefully he will notify the winner of the auction. Liability is on the seller since he knows about it prior to the sale.

I had one of those back in the 50's. It was a pretty decent shotgun actually. The only problem with them is they come apart and kill you from time to time, but I didn't know that back then.

According to this website, the 583.1 is NOT on the recall list: http://www.histandard.info/models/private/Sears/SearsBolt.html Only the models with the ** are/were subject to recall.
