I have the 2 3/4" ES, and on aglore's advice I got 395's for it, but after five rounds I think I will just read the book about bear attacks and play with the compass.

And I've decided to put bacon grease in DWS's sneakers.

I heard you had one DWS...I bought the same model. Try the 200 grainers. They are not near as bad and should still work on a bear...2300 ft lbs is a whole lot of energy. Those 395's do put a hurting on your palm.

Clouder...just as long as you don't do that to mine.[:D]

DWS...I did not get the bear kit with mine...just the revolver and a leather Galco Holster...it was a package deal special that RSR was running...so unfortunately, I do not have any reading material or a compass to play with. I guess mine will sit in the holster and look pretty.

I am going to pick up some 45 LC dies and load up some light rounds to do some plinking with.

i'm a wimp?? you need LC's for plinking? shoot your .460 the way i've shot my 45-70 BFR and then let's compare brass bells [:D] I've got well over 1000 rds through my pistol and i've shot 20 shots that were less than 300 grainers... seriously though, i hope you like the new revolver, i just figured it would be worse with the shorter barrel, i've shot the longer barrel version and wasnt impressed, i think it's just the design of the BFR grips (ruger blackhawk) that make mine comfortable to shoot HOT loads out of. I've got TONS of 460 and 454 brass so i'm kinda thinking about getting a BFR 460 someday with a 10" barrel..... but money's not good for that right now....

It's no lightweight in the recoil dept...I just wanted to give you guys a hard time.[;)][:D] The thing is, I had psyched myself out to the point where I wasn't sure if I wanted to shoot it! I was pleasantly suprized that it was manageable. I need the .45 LC's to do some practicing with. I do appreciate the input![8D]

i'll take an accurate count but off the top of my head i'd say around 100 plus of 460 ONCE FIRED an over 300 of 454 ONCE FIRED i'm lowballing it so i'm sure there's more, matter of fact i've got a bunch sitting here that i've not even gone through (mixed once fired brass that get's delivered when we use my range) [:D]

OK, So I'm a whimp! [:D] And I have bad wrists too! But they're a blast to shoot. Glad you like it, and I have thought about getting another someday for keeps to deer hunt with. I want to see what it does on a doe.[:D]

havent put my 45-70 300 grs seirra on meat yet, but i know what it does to a pressure treated 6x6 at 100 yards...... needless to say meat will be in the freezer when the opprutunity arises
