this is a graphic representation of what my life *could* look like should i decide to attend(and am accepted) into medic school in the fall:
bear in mind that "work" doesnt necessarily preclude studying or sleeping(any of you with ems experience will naturally understand); but i shouldnt count on doing anything but working, hence why i blocked out time for everything else.
thoughts? i dont see this as unreasonable or undoable, but i'd like to hear comments from this assorted peanut gallery.

The more I've thought about this, the more I feel the need to add a preamble [:)]
I'm very much aganst gun control, and have been vocal in my opinions about it to the press, my elected "representatives" and anyone else who will listen. Secondly, I pay more than I need to in taxes on the front end, knowing I will get it back in the long run. I do this so I get a good sized chunk on cash every late March or so that I put aside for major gun purchases. I know this is bad economics, but I'm comfortable with it, and don't plan on changing.
Now for the dilemma. My passion is for antique US Military firearms. I have a nice collection, but as any collector knows, it can always be improved upon. I'm looking at a very nice model 1819 Hall breech loading flintlock. It is one of the nicer ones I've seen, and I've been tracking them for years. The price is right around $4,000.
I already have a bunch of "evil" guns. A couple of full auto's, 4 Colt AR-15's in various configurations, M1A, FN-FAL, HK-91 (clone), 2 factory folder mini-14's, AK 47's etc.
Should I get the model 1819, and one or two other nice antiques now, or speculate on the potential upcoming legislation and buy a dozen AR-15's and let them sit NIB with the intent of selling them later ?
My long range goal is NOT to make money, but to upgrade my collection. If I get a bunch of AR-15's it would be with the intent of taking the $$ and putting it back into my collection. If it takes a few years to do it, then it does.
The hybrid option is to get the model 1819 now, spend the remainder on maybe a half dozen AR-15's and try and do both.
I hate the thought of speculating on potential legislation that I fundamentally disagree with, but that hate is mitigated by the thought of being able to aid the long term goals on obtaining some of the more pricey antiques.

I would take option C and do both myself,,you get the antique you have been wanting plus you put a little something back for the future,,even if they dont pass another ban the price of a good AR style weapon is not going to go down so its like just having money in the savings account,,even the stock market goes up and down so this would be a safe investment,,,,unless of course they outlaw all military weapons and make us turn them all in,,but then most of your collection would be gone,,not just the AR's 0 -

You've already made your decision. The difference between a collector and a speculator/accumulator is the passion.

My opinion regarding solicitation is as follows.
1. Soliciting a prostitute is illegal in 49 states.
2. In the one state where prostitution is legal, the prostitutes are considered "clean" because they undergo state-mandated exams.
3. Soliciting a prostitute is very dangerous for your marriage, unless your spouse agrees to one of those "interesting" nights out.
4. Therefore, unless you are not married and you live in Nevada, soliciting is a bad idea.

Consider these questions. Will you be able to find another Hall in equal or better condition down the road? Will you make enough profit to cover the probable increase in the Hall price by the time you sell the AR's? Finally, what if Hillary decides to take the AR's and you lose everthing? 0 -
I believe the new "assault weapon" ban also includes a clause that prohibits the sale of any of the weapons on the list, doesn't it? 0 -
The new proposed ban has a provision for transferring the "evil" rifles.

The Halls are a strange market. You might see one or two in original flint over a 5 year period, then see 5 or 6 pop onto the market in a month. Right now I know of 5 of them for sale in various locations, and as luck would have it, the nicest one is only about 45 miles away from me. I tried to pick it up two days ago, and the shop was closed [:(!]
I think I'm going to grab up the Hall now, and decided to amend the AR-15 idea, and buy about 6 AR-15 lower receivers and just sit on them for a few years. The supply of parts shouldn't dry up all that quickly, but if it looks like it is starting to, I can always get them and finish building the rifles.
