Update-WIA prayer request.

I asked you all to pray for Chick's son who was wounded last week in Iraq. The good news is that he was not wounded enough to be sent home from Iraq. The bad news is that he was not wounded enough to be sent home from Iraq. His HMMWV hit an IED and was flipped over and landed on the roof. He received a bad concussion and lacerations to his body. Of the other three in the HMMWV, 1 was generally unharmed, one had spinal injuries, and one had a broken leg.
THank you and please continue to pray for Chick's son.

    I understand parents wanting their children to outlive them, but when I hear/read statements such as these, I have to ask myself is that request from the soldier, or his family?

    Most soldiers would not ask to return home (save maybe Seaman John Skerry) after they had their bell rung by an IED blast. In fact, I find that it only strengthened my resolve to stay the course and find the savages who planted the damn thing so we could sort em out.

    I pray the soldier has a speedy recovery, and I also pray that if the family is not supportive of the war, that they lay their personal feelings of hatred for Bush aside and support the soldier in his decision to serve his nation during her time of need.

    The soldier does not need any additional distractors while trying to perform his mission in OIF/OEF, and as much as folks may not realize it, issues on the home front weigh heavily on the mind of these young men.

    Agreed. I didn't mean to imply that the soldier wanted to come home, but that his dad was worried about him. Having been in Iraq myself, I know that it is easier to be in harm's way than to be here while one has family in harm's way.

    My prayer is for his quick recovery, and for an honorable end to our involvement in that hell hole.

    I am glad that my son is home, and I am glad that he never had to travel in a HMMV, but was always in a M1117. The 1117 can run over a pretty big bomb and keep running.

    CCE: I appreciate you clarifying the point and I understand the anxiety the father must feel. I thank you for your service.

    NUNN: I am glad travis made it through the dance unscatehd, but that APC can be just as dangerous as an up-armored HMMWV. If an M1 Tank can be destroyed by an IED, it can happen to any vehicle in our inventory.
