Paypal Update

Not long ago I got word from PayPal that they had suspended my account until I deleted the PayPal option for buyers to use when paying for purchases from me here on GB. I deleted all references, got my account reactivated and withdrew all but a few dollars.

Moments ago I heard on FOX TV that some bigwigs at the Pentagon are in deep doo doo because they've been watching, buying, downloading kiddy porn on government-owned computers. Worse, they pay for their porn via PayPal. I didn't make this up, that's what was reported!

So now we know, buy your kiddy porn via PayPal, that's okay. But, don't dare try to use PayPal for ANYTHING pertaining to firearms! Seems fair to me. How 'bout you?

    Best regards ~ ~ ~ Shasei45

It's a fact. I know this because my paypal account is permanently locked because I used it to receive payment on some gun parts I sold.

Did they notify you at all? I buy parts all the time and have never received a notification from them. And I read every update they send...
Locking a account without prior notification is total B.S.
And most of the Ebay dealers still say they are accepting Paypal in their ads. This tells me they have no prior notification either.
What kind of Clowns are these people anyway.

You may be safe from other people, but Paypal itself will screw you over.

Interesting, I sell a few hundred choke tubes through eBay. I have yet to receive word that this is happening.

Does someone have a link, something reputable, to lay credence to the allegation?

it's bs. until eBay which owns paypal stops selling gun parts they will still except payment for them.

It would seem that the timing is right for an on-line payment service to come on board and address all of the "politically incorrect" legal transactions. Frankly, I don't see where any payment service should refuse to handle a transaction that is completely legal.

As a rule of thumb, if a bank will transfer funds from a checking account to a gun dealer's account for a firearms purchase AND if a publicly-held money order company will do likewise AND if the United States Post Office - a centuries old branch of the U.S. government - will not only issue money orders for interstate firearms purchases but also deliver them, then on-line payment services like PayPal who refuse to transfer funds for legitimate firearms purchases should be held legally accountable for violating an individuals' civil rights.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Slow hand,

That's a nice thought, but you have no civil rights when it comes to private persons/enterprise, with few exceptions. They are protection from Governmental interference. That's why the cops in the Rodney King incident could be held criminally liable for their actions (violating civil rights) but OJ Simpson couldn't be held for the same thing against Nichole.

I disagree only because the USPS and the banks - which PayPal must use -set the precedent. PayPal is NEVER using any of their money to facilitate payment, be it by direct debit or credit card. But, I have been wrong before.[:0][:D]

Google has a new payment service we should all look into, don't think there is a restriction on guns. Further, it should be as safe as PP.

...there is a whole forum on ebay, just for the disscussion of PayPal screw ups. Feeling my usual self one day...I did a rant on that forum about paypal. The died in the wool ebayers "dont get it" they love Paypal...though almost each and evryone has had a major problem with them!

That said many agreed with me and are dropping their PP acct, just tired of the ever changing rules that change so often w/little or no notice.
Many had already stopped using PP and had seen no decline in their sales.

I asked why in the hell taht one would keep using PP after getting the shaft on a regular basis from PP...and these twits only had lame azz ansers that made no sense...some really strange people over their [^]

One guy said he was glad I'd dropped my PP acct back when they (PP) dropped their support of the 2nd...because I must be running some kind of scam!??[:0][:D]...made about as much sense as most liberals. Several people thought he was fruitcake for saying such nonsenseical dribble.

A few pretty big sellers that had dropped PP, said the flea-bay actually em'd them semi threatening letters; after dropping thier accts... weeners with ears they are...[^]

    ani-texas-flag-1.gif

Several said they would sell to me, break from their rules and accept a check from me without even waiting for it to clear because I was so up front ragging ebays favorite son...PP...actaully applauded me...[;)]

If you're making an argument for why a private business SHOULD be willing to complete a transaction, I agree entirely.

On the other hand, they're a privately held business, and if they choose not to deal with firearms or firearms parts, that's their right.

I think it's important to respect that right because....well, because I have opinions of my own that other people don't like that I want to be able to hold. If PayPal/EBay are not allowed to be jackasses, then I might not be allowed to be a jackass either, and I don't like that prospect. I NEED to be able to hold my own jackass views, even if it means that I have to accept a world in which privately held businesses are allowed to decide what kinds of business transactions they are willing to facilitate.

You don't have to agree with me, and you don't have to patronize PayPal/EBay, or any other business that displeases you. That is the right--that I have to respect--that belongs to you.

It's actually a publicly-held business - though it's founder is the primary shareholder - and that goes directly to the heart of the matter.

I went through their policy updates and found nothing...But then the only reference to firearm that I did find was that they would not honor their guaranteed refund policy on any firearms. Got tired of looking so I emailed and asked for their exact policy concerning Firarms and parts. Will update again if I get a reply... I have a gut feeling that some dealers that have a grudge against Ebay/PayPal Are trying to stir up some crap.

I believe their policy in writing does indicate that gun sales cannot be purchased through PayPal. However, eBay is going to have shut down all firearms parts sales before they can shut down firearms parts paid for via PayPal. So, I think the main point of this entire thread is based upon a "urban legend" (because I don't want to accuse someone of lying).

It is sellers who need to worry, paypal locks accounts and holds funds in the account and retroactive for a period of time that I do not know for up to six months. It is all cleverly disguised in the fine print of their user agreement.

PayPal has several competitors. If everybody who is pissed at PayPal used their competition, PayPal would be a multimillion dollar business instead of a billion dollar business.

The problem is that if you sell at Fleabay, you're not allowed to use most of them. Fleabay uses the excuse of, "Well, we're not sure about the safety and security of these other options, so while we're exploring them, you cannot use them."

When I sell on eBay I take cash, check or money order. When I buy on eBay I pay with postal money order. I have had a couple buyers get really angry with me because I don't play with PayPal. One even demanded to know why I wouldn't take PayPal. I still haven't signed up though. I always put in the body of the ad in large red block letters "I do not accept PayPal". Most buyers don't notice it.

ROFL. My account was suspended for 24 hours because I jokingly said in one of my auctions that I accept cash. Apparently, saying that you accept cash violates one of the paragraphs in the TOS.

Meanwhile, they had the balls to send me a survey concerning my suspension. I told them they were idiots and that, aside from not being able to discern a joke from reality, their stance on the 2nd Amendment was inexcusable, and Lord help them if they ever needed to be in a situation where they needed to protect themselves and had no means to do so.

I know it fell on deaf ears, but it was an avenue for venting frustration and telling them what retards I thought they were...
