My Generation Has Seen ...
Post some things that your generation has seen.
My generation has seen...
Bombing of Japan with A-Bombs (alive but not personally aware)
Early TV broadcasting - aware
Korean War
The tail end of the Communist witch hunts (which have now been replaced by the terrorist under every bed)
Air raid drills in schools, where we hid under our desks, which most certainly would have saved us from those evil Communist bombs.
The advent of color television
78 rpm records
Disneyland
Radios being optional in cars
First American jetliners - the 707 to be specific
JFK's assassination
The Vietnam fiasco
The beginnings of Muslim radicalization when President Eisenhower's administration invited early members of the Muslim Brotherhood to the States, in an attempt to get allies against the Communist "threat."
FM radio
The beginnings of the family with two parents working.
The transistor radio
The beginning of the Internet
Etc.,etc.,etc.

Go to eBay records collectors - LOTS of Dodos there my friend.
33s, 78s, 45s are there ... alive and well ... and so are the folks who love them
as well as new turntables with computer connectors. I sold a Sun label for a
friend not too long ago for a cool $1K.

You got that right!
But, phonograph records are not being made new any more.0 -
I've got a nice turntable and a black box that allows me to put (audio) tapes or records on CDs or DVDs through my computer. I'm pretty sure it can do that with any audio source.
Last week's "US News and World Report" did a special section on 1957 - 50 years ago. It was pretty good.
1957 was the first year that chevrolet outsold Ford.

My friend, Mickey, and I were 'modifying' two B-17 models to look like
they were 'going down' in flames - hot pins to make 'bullet/cannon
holes and white cotton/spray painted red cotton for smoke .... and mom
came out to the garage and told us to come in and watch TV - "the
Russians had launched the first Earth satellite, or something!"
Mickey and I remember it just like it was yesterday!

the beginning of WW 2 in Europe, the draft for WW 2, WW 2 in closeup,
the end of WW 2, the Model A Fords beginning, self starters on cars,
kids going to school to learn the 3 "R's" mainly, the CCC, WPA, NYA and the likes, the start of Social Security (not as it is now), and pre-
welfare . But mostly, people helping each other out and patriotism.
Oh yes, politians that stole only 10 percent, not 90 percent like now.
Wont go into gun laws back then. No one would believe them.0 -
