I am sick of hearing about that. Slavery didnt start in America for crying out loud. And its still going on. Was it wrong? I think so. But that doesnt mean i am going to apologize to every black i see because of it.

The bad part about this is it opens the doors for reparations.IMHO, there already is reparations- it's called welfare and affirmative action.

What is the harm? Treatment of blacks and indians was wrong. We all know this. So to say such treatment in the past was wrong does no harm. To say such is important to some and it is no skin off of anyone's nose. In the past people thought differently. There is nothing we can do about that, except to say it was wrong and today we know better. Or at least most people do! Indians don't want or expect any reparations. Just live up to the treaties we were forced into. This is something that the goverment just does not want to do.

Totally friggin rediculous to apologise, or to expect an apology for
things done long before our time.

When do my Irish relatives get an apology for how they were treated when they first came to this country. [;)]

It is all a bunch of feel good crap that does nothing except drive a bigger wedge between groups of AMERICANS...[:(!][V]

It's no surprise that the "apology" would come out of the Richmond liberals since they erected a statue of Arthur Ashe on "Monument Avenue" among the statues of Confederate heroes Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, JEB Stuart and Jefferson Davis. [:(!]

"When do my Irish relatives get an apology for how they were treated when they first came to this country."

You are right, William. And after our Irish ancestors get their apology for treatment in America, we need the apology from the British. In the 1600s they made it illegal to play the Irish harp, and a person caught playing it was hanged with one of his harp strings. They also stole many square miles of Irish land.
Wouldn't it make everybody feel good for the British to apologize for these outrages?

This Virginia apology is feelgood crap and does nothing for anybody.

    OK:

Hmm. What's the statue of Ashe doing with all of those second place trophies?[}:)]

Personally, I am still pro-slavery... at least you can get some work out of them. With welfare, we all pay and care for them, and get no work! With slavery, true we care for them, but we get work some work out of them!

    tongue in cheek too?
