Has anyone seen the new Mini in 6.8 SPC? Just noticed it on the Ruger website.

I have a mini 14....I got it in a trade...Frankly I'm not a big fan of the Mini series offering from Ruger Or any of the other ammo burners for that matter, And while I own them to me it is simply for filling a slot in my collection. The Msrp was what 8 something... About $400 bucks too much IMO0 -

jim...what high cap mags do you find feed best in your mini 14? The factory ruger 20 rounders are WAY to high.
Have heard Promag (PMI) and Masen(?) are supposed to feed and fit very well. That has been my hold up on getting a mini 14 for my wife.0 -
I have an DPMS that I built in a 6.8 SPC. The round is fantastic. Not as fast as the .223, but hits much harder and has excellent ballistics as well. Check out remington's website and compare a 55 gr 223, 115 gr 6.8, and a 124 gr 7.62x39 and you'll get a good feel for what kind of round it is. I've used mine from just fun plinking and also as a pretty sucessful brush gun (the eotech sight helps that out). In my opinion, it is one of the best new rounds to come along recently. I also know Hornady is selling 6.8 with a 115gr V-Max bullet, along with Remington's PSP, and OTM (hollow point). 0 -
This is the first Ive seen or heard about it. I have got to have one, Im sure I can manage to slip on a muzzle break regardless of Rugers new front site to prohibit it. I have 2 Mini-14's and a Mini-14 chambered in .222 which was made for export to Country's who's citizens are not allowed to own Military arms. Im broke but it probably will be a yr or so before my Dealer can get one anyway. Thanks for pointing out Ruger's new chambering for the Mini-14. I wonder if LEO's can buy Hi- Cap Mags or actually I prefer to say unrestricted Mags.
Edited to add: Medic07 Most of my Mags are all 20RD factory Mags that I got a deal on a while back, they function flawless. Ive shot 2 Mason 20 RD Mags I have and they work good. I tried a PMI 30RD Mag and had problems, but Ive heard the 20RD Mags are very reliable. I have an AR-15 an AK and so on but find the Mini-14 a blast to shoot as well. I dont like Ruger's stance on the rifle, it kind of hurt our relationship together.[;)]0 -
I would like to see/hear about the stability and accuracy of the new 6.8. How far can you reach out with the new 6.8 from ruger? I personally like the caliber and ballistics of the 6.8 and can't wait to add one to my collection. 0 -

I have to admit I haven't shot mine more than maybe 6-700 rounds, mostly gunshow fodder. I put a red dot on mine and I like how that works. As far as magazines, I have 2-30 round and 2-40 round no-name cli..,er, magazines that came from CDNN and they all functioned first through last without a jam. I, too would like to get one for my wife, but I can't find anyone who'll trade me.[:)][:)]0 -

Yea but he still makes Hi cap mags for those who disagree with him....Nuff said!!!0
