Teeth cleaning
How many of you go to the dentist to have your teeth cleaned? And how often to you go?
I used to go yearly when I was younger, but haven't gone in a few years now. I take care of them pretty well myself[:D].

EVERYONE should go at least once a year.
You can't take proper care of your own teeth for years on end, and I don't care how well, or how often you brush, and floss.
In another few years, you will most likely be joining the "gumming" crowd![:D][;)]0 -
taking care of them yourself isnt enough. you should go minimum once a year. older folks like me go twice a year. as you age, your gumline receeds. fresh tooth becomes exposed. dentists need to monitor in between teeth more when youre older where pockets can form. to say, cleaning is enough is like saying my car will last if i just hose it off. no, crud is still under the fenders and piled up on the bumpers where you cant see it.[;)]
was a time when people would pick their teeth to maintain air space between teeth. not too many do that anymore. i pick will get what even floss misses.0 -

Had my teeth cleaned ONCE. and that dentist hurt me so badly I threatened him bodily harm. My mouth was sore for over a week. 0 -

Mine uses ultrasound cleaning and gives you a headset to watch movies. I get them cleaned twice a year and still have all of my own teeth (I turned 55 last weekend). It's cheap, preventive maintenance. 0 -
How much does it cost you guys that have no dental and pay out of your own pocket?

...Due to receding gums, I had surgery a few years back. I go for deep cleaning and gum measurment every four months. (just yesterday, as a matter of fact) She's always amazed at how clean my teeth are. I'm not that good about brushing and flossing, but like bobski said, wood toothpicks will scrape off a lot of crud. 0 -
I get full x-rays, and a cleaning for about 150 bucks.
X-rays are once a year, so the next cleaning is only about $60.00,.........which means I spend a whopping $210.00 per year to keep my teeth.[:D]

just a few week ago I went for the 1st time in about 5 years. Only needed a lite routine cleaning. 0 -

I'm guilty of not going to the dentist in 14 years. At 16 I got into a fight and got kicked in the face and it broke half of one of my molars off. It still hasn't given me problems.
I have insurance, but the first year I have to pay most of it and I'm worried on how much it will cost.0 -

You act like I don't ever brush my teeth[;)]. As a matter of fact, my teeth are whiter then many other people's that I know(and no I have never used whitner) who go to the dentist regularly. I brush twice a day, rinse with mouthwash once a day and floss once a week. That being said, I started this thread because I should probably get a cleaning sometime in the near future.

You first cleaning will take some time to clean all the calculus off your teeth which will probably make your gums a little sore.The second appointment the hygienest tells you that you have 14 cavities.Just promise me that you will not be like all the others and tell everybody that you never had a cavity until you went to the dentist0 -
