Very Cool Marlin 'Alaskan Co-Pilot'

Few months back, RKB had a big ol' bear with a Co-Pilot and caught a lotta crap for having to boat around to find a bear to shoot with the rifle (see SOF for pix and the whole story). I liked the Idea of the M1 Garand called Eleanor and the M1a named after Teddy that were making the rounds of the tactical mags awhile back; seemed like too good of an idea to shorten everything on a M14, add a Scout scope/Ghost ring sight set, chamber it in .243 and call it a day!

Excellent concept. Now, if they could only design something to load the rounds directly into the tube when the barrel is removed. As in a "semi-detachable" magazine, of sorts. Only this time, the barrel would be attached to the loaded mag.

Perhaps impossible, but it seemed like a good idea when I typed this. Joe

That looks sweet! Would that be a legal barrel length though? I wonder if you have to get an SBR stamp for it?
