How come they never test the facutly ? How come they never test congress ? What gives a school the right to invade a students body and privacy ? This is the future of big government, this is something everyone should be afraid of.

The teens are minors, underage.
The Adults are of "legal age" to drink, no crime committed.
Teachers and staff are drug tested, prior to employment, and after having an accident on or using school equipment. Much like most other employers.0 -

the adults are in custody of the most precious things on earth, children. adults should have the prove that they are sober and not under the unfluence of any alcohol or drugs while in custody of children. its legal for adults to consume alcohol but its not legal for them to be under the unfluence while at school.
and the last time i checked people in america still had privacy rights to their own bodies....and that STILL includes minors0 -

You can legally drink at home with your family when underage. So should the school be able to punish your children for that?

There are only 8 States that strictly prohibit drinking under age 21.
The National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 required all states to raise their minimum purchase and public possession of alcohol age to 21. States that did not comply faced a reduction in highway funds under the Federal Highway Aid Act.... It does not prohibit persons under 21 (also called youth or minors) from drinking. The term "public possession" is strictly defined and does not apply to possession for the following:
An established religious purpose, when accompanied by a parent, spouse or legal guardian age 21 or older
In private clubs or establishments
In the course of lawful employment by a duly licensed manufacturer, wholesaler or retailer."

Negative, I'm a concerned parent and very agianst my daughters drinking and I still consider this complete crap.
Schools are getting way over the line. Hell the other day my daughters school tried to tell me I couldn't take my daughter out of class. I told them I could and WAS. Then they wanted to know why. I told them because I was her father and I said so. They still pushed for a reason. Fine I told them and informed them I was going to call the police. Suddenly they the lady wised up and got her down there. Mind you she had a doctors appointment, but that was none of their business. I've had nothing but trouble with schools since I've had to deal with them for my daughters. Its getting to the point like I'm almost taking my children to a prison.
They always try to act like they are the bottom line for making decisions for my daughters. I'm the parent and since my daughters have not gotten into any trouble and are making straight A's I must be doing something right.
I guess its strange for them to encounter a parent that cares about their kid and takes responsiblity for them.0 -

Depends on your state law whether a minor can drink at ANY time. Here in VA, if I serve a minor child of mine IN MY HOME- it is legal. (I did not) Should be interesting, tho. Ever check the alcohol content in cough medicine or Nyquil? How will they distinguish between the sophomore that had a beer, and the one that had a cold? 0 -
The school doesn't intend to punish students who show evidence of alcohol consumption, only to notify their parents. So, if the parents are OK with it, no problem.
BTW: If you ain't at least 18 years old, you aren't a human being yet, and have few, if any, rights. In Texas, minors have ZERO property rights. They don't own the clothes they wear. They don't own the TVs they watch, the jamboxes they listen to, the cars they drive. Their parents do. Parents own the child's property, and have a right to the child's services and income. You don't have to like it; that's just the way it is.0 -
How can you test for alcohol that far off if you only had a minute amount of alcohol?
BTW: what about cough medicine that may contain alcohol? Will the get get in trouble for that. Probably; and they will most likely suspend him for 'lying' to school officials. [just a thought]0 -

You will soon discover if you have not yet, just because this is a gun board, does not mean that most here believe in liberties. Hell many of the gun owners here actually support gun control.
