How many of you guys here have Sirius or XM? My roomate got Sirius a while ago because he has a real long commute, mines not as long so I held off. But I just got a great deal by getting the actual unit for free so I think I'm finally going to take the plunge, they have 6 country channels and here we only have 1.

Does anyone know if these puppies will work inside of metal buildings where normal radios have problem?

How many people have it? I just got Sirius about a month ago and love it. [:)] I don't even remember what my local FM stations are anymore. [:D]

You will have to run the antena out side.

Buildings?? Ha! They don't even work if you are around tall trees. You need pretty much an unobstructed view to the sattelite to get reception.

If you run the antenna outside I would expect it to work, just like git-r-done said. With the antenna inside a metal building not a chance. XM is the best $15 a month you can spend, I love it, and I will not go back to anything else.

I got Sirius with my new head unit in the Suburban and renewed for 3 years I liked it so much. I drive to the mountain house in Linvill, NC and back and never miss a beat. the only time it goes out is when I go under the awning at the bank or the gas station or something like that.

Another vote on XM. I have had it for over 2 years and love it. Infact my regular radio antena broke on my bronco and I have never replaced it as I still get my XM and it is all I need.

I've had Sirius since I got back from Iraq and I love it. I don't pay for cable (free compliments of the landlord) and I don't watch much television to speak of except the Outdoor Channel and 24 on Fox. I figure I might as well splurge. I lose reception if I park under an overhang (such as at gas stations). I've never had problems parking next to tall buildings. There are stands of tall timber next to and close to each side of the highway that I take to and from work and never lose reception. You'll need an antenna if you're going to be inside of a building.

mom has XM, very reliable, very clear. i live in the mountains and the only time it goes out is when in a tunnel. you can even listen to it on the computer if you have an account (go to XM.com and you can stream it). My mom has it so thats what i do when on the computer , no matter where i'm at.

I like that about Sirius too. I can sit and clean a gun while streaming "Gun Talk with Tom Gresham" over the internet. Cool stuff!

I vote for a phone with web. Then download ptunes (pocket tunes) and you have all the music you could ask for. I had sirius and got rid of it. I pay 29.95 a month for my web on my treo and can do everything I can do on my computer and I get all the internet radio stations.

I like XM though I don't know anything technical about it. We have it on our showroom with an antenna right by it, the building is pretty much glass and metal, and have never had reception problems.

Thanks for your answers!!! I wonder is there some device out there to test for a signal. I know the Satellite TV people have them for their products?
