new jersey ditches death penalty

great. criminals in this country really needed a break. i guess its one reason why i support joe horn.

    You'd have a hard time pinning me down on the death penalty anyway, because I'm not sure what I believe with respect to "a life for a life."

    However, I do see an alarming number of death-row inmates being exonerated by DNA evidence. This, by itself, says to me that we need to suspend, indefinitely, the death penalty.

    I don't want to be part of society with a criminal "justice" system that executes innocent people.

    Get that exoneration of death-row inmates rate down to 1 in 10,000, and we'll talk. Until then there's too much risk of killing the innocent (even then, there might be too much risk of killing the innocent....I only said we'd talk).

    The way the death penalty is carried out now it might as well be done away with, with the possible exception of Texas and Virginia. When a convicted criminal receives the death penalty he can expect to be executed about ten to twenty years later. All the death penalty does now is guarantee the inmate a private room.

    Good point James!
    We just had a death row inmate get a stay of execution because his lawyer said lethal injection was cruel and inhumane. Another deathrow inmate in an adjacent state got a stay of execution because his lawyer claimed his high blood pressure medicine would interact with the lethal injection and make him suffer. These lawyers are out of control in my book.

    They were convicted "beyond all resonable doubt", they hould hav been executed long before now. I am all in favor of having gallows outside of the courthouse, once your convicted you go outside and are hung.

    nj residents oppose this, but they have democrats in office that side with crimminals

    Odd that a state would have both a fort and a group of law makers called the same thing!!!!
