NBC and hollow points

On tonights NBC news they reported that the VT shooter used the dreaded hollowpoint bullet. They even had an ex ATF agent on that said hollow points shouldn't be used/aren't needed for home defense use because they can kill. WTH?

    This is also a problem now when defending yourself in a legal shooting. The lawyers claim you intended to kill the person attacking you! The defense is, the police use hollowpoint bullets you dummy!

    This is why it is so important to try to use what is currently being used by the local police in your area.

    I guess I need to take the 00 out of my Mossburg and put frog shot in it. Don't want to hurt anybody breaking into my home.[}:)][}:)]

    WTH is right. Thats about as good as that new commercial when the guy goes into the store and asks for a "Light" bullet.[:D]

    I suggest replacing the shot with cotton balls.

    If you need more power, you can soak them first

    I thought he bought low-velocity target ammunition along with the Glock. I read that somewhere earlier this afternoon. Target ammunition probably means cheap SWC. I somehow trust this more than I trust NBC given that it came from an interview with the gun shop owner, but it's not necessarily The Truth (TM). I just know that there's some doubt about the type of bullet he misused.

    I saw on NBC new tonight that he carried 17 mags into the school. I infer that was the total for both pistols.
    They said that some of the mags for the Glock were "high cap" that could hold as many as 30 rounds.
    Do they make a 30 round mag for the Glock?

    Yup, a 32-rounder....I've got a couple

    From what I heard, he had the standard glock 19 mags....15 rounders. If he had anything larger, it would have stuck out from the bottom of the mag well....the mags shown in the NBC pics were flush with the gun

    I don't remember which channel or which News Dudette it was, but last night one of them said the VT NUT was armed with a 9mm Gee Lock.

    Frangible Ammunition or TAP ammo for me in the home. If I miss don't need that bullet going thou six walls before it stops. Thats why I just like the old 12ga with some #6 shot. Figure at 50' if I gotta use it they are not going very far.

    Hmmm. Then somebody doesn't have their facts straight. In another news article, the gun shop owner said the guy purchased a box of 50 shells with standard bullets for plinking.

    22mm, isn't that considered AAA? As for my home defense, I have Claymore mines positioned at every entrance and window with proximity detectors and motion sensors to st them off, plus a manual back-up.

    He bought 50 rounds of standard ammo with the Glock. He went to a local range to practice at least once. He has photos of hollow points in his "manifesto" as well as photos of additional mags. Obviously he bought additional ammo somewhere and that could account for the hollow points in the photo.
