I would like to believe that those of us who value freedom would stand and fight. Unfortunately we dont know until that moment arrives.

IMHO, people that immediately dismiss the notion that no one will fight are going to be the first to surrender all their rights

Highball let me introduce you to the head of the nail!!!!!! Cowards! We have your "fly by posters" but, we also have those who are living on SS and are living on some FAT pension and they do NOT want the ship to rock. Guess what, most of those are folks who absolutley FELL ASLEEP at the mother loving wheel. I am sorry if I offend some on this board but, you folks who are between the ages of 60-100 have let things go for so long that there may be not return. To cower and actually try and defend any of the bullsnit that they have introduced is only proving the point. COWARDS!!

Every so often, the subject of perhaps having to take rifle in hand and actually having to defend the Constitution is debated.

Generally, somebody instantly chims in with the all-knowing.."The blow-hards talking internet trash will fold up like a house of cards..falling on their knees and weeping for mercy"...

    I wonder, always...

Does this retort serve to cover their OWN cowardly view of freedom...and the Second Amendment ?

DO they think such a statement nullifies the basic truth of the discussion ?
Given that they speak the absolute truth...that those of us talking about the loss of freedom in this country are INDEED "internet warriours"..does that invalidate what we say ?

Are these people afraid that talking about shooting the first man in the door trying to take arms from you might actually inspire someone, somewhere, to resist tyranny ?

    I wonder.....

    Yes

    Yes

    No

    Yes

I believe that most do not believe that a repeal of Amendment II, or a serious ban of private ownership of firearms will ever actually occur. I think it is easy for that crowd to belittle those of us who do seriously believe that a move is afoot to do just that, with the real possibility of success on the banners part.

It seems to me that relegating those of us who see this as a real possibility, and who are committed to acting in such an event, to a "fringe" or "internet tough-guy" status, allows the coward to feel like a reasoned and sage person.

What better way to make oneself feel better about the basic, undeniable knowledge that he/she is in reality, afraid to contemplate, or step up and act, if ever such a scenario occurs?

If HR1022 passes (and I don't think it will), that certainly will be a fairly all-encompassing ban.

They were able to go door-to-door in New Orleans because a lot of people had no clue what to do after a huge disaster. But, it still didn't sit well with me that everyone sort of shrugged their shoulders and handed over their weapons.

Of course, with some of the video that I saw, if I had two dozen soldiers aiming guns at me, I might be inclined to follow orders and drop my weapon, too. I don't carry a sidearm and without some prior warning, I don't think that I'd even have time to arm myself before it was all over and done with.

However, that was New Orleans, nobody had power, etc., and the TV news crews were a little busy with other things.

If something like HR1022 passed, and all the sudden the nation's various police forces started going door-to-door, this would make the news. I've said this several times before -- the government would welcome it and the news would eagerly document it in hopes of convincing others to just step forward and hand over their weapons.

I honestly think it would have the opposite effect. They'd make it through a few homes and when gun-owning America caught wind of it, that would be the start.

We're different than Europeans, Australians, etc. We're becoming fat and lazy babies wanting to suckle at the government's teat but we're not quite there yet.

I think most of us don't want to be the ones who actually fire the first shot. Most of us who know and understand the 2nd don't want to be viewed as the kook. We're waiting for the tide to just start to roll in, and once it does, it'll be a tsunami that will be damn hard to stop.

To me, a good indicator of if a fellow will walk the walk is his GB profile. How much guts can you assign a person that won't even post his real name? What about the goofballs that post silly locations that are incorrect? Those guys must be scared of their shadow so I don't expect to see them buring much powder.

I'm just hoping 10% of the NRA (300,000) muster up to the line, but as far as here, we have people that are too gutless or cheap to even join the NRA.

I started reading a very good book on our freedoms and the II amendment the other night. Has anybody else read "Bostons gun bible" ?

  • Highball
Boston's Bible is a pretty good book.

Joining the NRA ? Whatever for ? So as to watch those boys throw themselves at the feet of the politicians, begging for a lighter gun control law ?
As for the concealing profile...the men in black are fully aware of 'who' we ALL are...and the mentally deranged that roam these sites just will have to dig harder to trace a person down.

Take me, for example...several people on this site know exactly who I am...I have met them over a dinner table. I just have no need to meet folks I consider to be mentally diseased.
Other posters just have not been convienient to meet them yet.

So..back to the basis of this thread.
Assume that I am a craven coward.

Attack the thought behind the support of the Amendment II..instead of the poster. NOT doing so reveals much about the attacker...and NOTHING about the supporter.

Everyone has their own distractions to be sure, but we may soon find out the differance between sportsman and soldiers. Just remember that Good and Evil are in the actions of Men. I surely remember my oath to God and Country as well as my thoughts as I stood in line waiting to take that Oath. For me the Acid Test is the Second Ammendmant, The Constitution has been under major attack for over 70 years since the introduction of the original MG ban!

In my opinion you have to dig out of the details and back away and look at the big picture. I have stated before and will throw it out there again, the NRA is a tiny organization and cannot and will not do the work for all you 70-80 million gun owners that refuse to support any organization because you don't want to spend the $35 per year or are unhappy because they don't approach problems your way.

Answer this question: If the NRA or GOA was 50-70 million strong would they handle things the same way they do now and would Congress ignore them?? I think not.
We are in the soup right now due to a major cultural shift in American over the last 50 years. From Rural farm folks to Urban dwellers. Plus the elimination of the draft has has a bit to do with it also.

Generations growing up in cities do not have any use for guns, are not trained to hunt or target shoot by dad or grandad! Its that simple!

You can yell at the old folks and whine and complain that its their fault, but its not its "CHANGE" and its not fun.

The "ONLY" thing that will save the 2nd amendment and our gun rights is the one thing we cannot seem to do; ORGANIZE!! Its crystal clear to me that if this doesn't happen gun rights will be gone within the next 20-50 years. Look to almost all the older countries in the world to see what will happen here.

We are all very frustrated! Watching gun rights erode before our eyes is heartbreaking. I am 65 and the changes I have seen make me ill.

But again you can't stop it without a major effort like the illegials hitting the streets and becomming the squeeky wheel. The women against drunk drivers getting major changes in the laws. The Blacks hitting the streets to stop discrimination.

We will never hit the streets, so your only recourse is to join the NRA or GOA and protest through them. Or you will have no gun rights as they remove them one bullet at a time.

There were no gunfights in the UK when they took their guns. No gunfights in Australia when they took the semis, pumps and handguns. No gunfights in Israel, Germany, Spain, Belgium,Canada, and on and on.

Want the 2nd amendment??? Join up or its curtains for you!
Not even my opinion, its fact, lived too long to not know the final outcome of this game.

IMAHUSKER -- I seriously disagree with you. Many, in my generation and older, will be the last ones to surrender our arms. Some of us were taught a standard that is not taught to all young people today. Think for yourself and be true to thine own self.

Now IMHO- the real problem that will exist and will face each one of us, if and when a ban and confiscation occurs, is that initially the authorities will arrive in force at your house or my house. We will not be together to defend ourselves. We will each be alone and faced with an overwhelming superiority of numbers and firepower. If you resist or if I do, we will lose and lose quickly. The divide and conquer approach will be most effective and few individuals will provided armed resistance. At that time the "new ban" will not have made its way through the courts, people will be waiting to see the outcome of the final appeal to the Supreme Court, etc.

Most of us will not put up armed resistance against the SWAT or the ARMY or whoever comes. Rather, the realistic approach for the majority will be to attempt not to surrender "all" of their weapons. Retaining some will give them the ability to organize and provide meaningful resistance, if it should be necessary.

At least the above thoughts represent what I believe might actually occur at some time in the future. Hopefully, not in my lifetime or yours.

If you take a realistic look at what happened in other countries I don't think anybody comes to your house. Once guns are outlawed you have a certain time to turn them in. Many do turn them in out of fear. Many also hide them and go underground with their gun ownership.

But no more are ever sold and slowly the number of assualt rifles or other forbidden gun supply dry up. If your house burns or a crime results in an inspection you are tossed into jain when they find the outlawed guns. If you are seen using the guns you are in big trouble. If a neighbor or friend that knows you have illegial guns spills the beans you are in trouble.

The guns become similar to having an illegial drug in your home. You can't sell them or trade them or hand them down to children without a major risk to yourself and the person receving illegial property.

No house to house searches will happen unless you are fingered by someone.

Good plan but why wait to organize, just in case...

along with door to door confiscation there will be severe travel restrictions and the dreaded Curfew. (you don't wanna be a MOM (male of military age) when those UN snipers try to enforce curfew...

Pardon this silly question, but if your guns are being taken, at what point do you consider "meaningful resistance" necessary?

Once again, Sig has his act together, except for the part about joining gun owner organizations.

Pardon me for chiming in here.
My opinion is that if you are unlucky enough to be the first out of the box to get the 'visit'....you submit...instantly.

Being alive to fight another day is to be prefered to being shot out of hand.
Now..if you look down the street and see house to house searches, with the meat wagons carrying away your neighbors..then it is time to pull the finger out of the orifice and do something meaningful.
"Your neighbors" in this case being Georgia, Kansas, or wherever...

The moment the line is crossed is the moment that the fight is joined...even if the majority of people living in this country WILL NOT FIGHT...and they won't.

There's worst things than dying Highball. You must be some kind of government plant. You stir and stir inciting people but you prefer to linger in the background like some kind of snitch. Frankly, you are of no consequence.

Maybe we should organize a Million gun owneres march in Washington and all gun owners show up and demonstrate and show our displeasure for the new proposed ban. I just wonder howm many would actually show up Probally not as many as you would think but I would be there

I care what other people will do, but I can't make them do anything, so I suggest this or that.

I have stated numerous times over my dead cold body will I give up any firearms. Am I full of poop? I honestly don't care if people think I am. I have nothing to prove to anyone besides my wife, kids, and the goverment.

Me thinks somebody has been watching to many movies. If it is a Red Dawn situation, then we would be compelled to react. I do not believe that 1775 compares to 2007 (British vs Americans) or vice versa. If it got that bad, age wouldn't be a factor. 8 to 80 would be in it for the long run. I think we (us) you and me, would not willingly get on a locked bus or train with the exaust tube running to the cabin. History has tought us that. Some talk about fighting while others are scary quiet. IMHO [}:)]

I can tell you exactly who the government plants are.]

Those rallying to question the manhood of anyone objecting to tyranny.
Those that refuse to make any attempt to discuss the problems facing this country..instead, prefering to attack those that ARE interested.

There, gentlemen, is the enemy facing us in the fight to retain what little freedoms we have left.
Combine them with the Zumbos, and you find that 90 % of gun owners
    will not fight.

I can assue you...the people of no consequence are those viewing the world with rose-colored glasses...hurling stones at those wearing no glasses....
