...none of the above apply if you have a set, and dont mealy around with people. People respect and appreciate being treated in a frank, candid manner; they KNOW when they're being azz's and when called on it, most respect you for that. I learned that from having a business for 30 years, grow a pair, it will help...[;)]

LF, most, if not all, of it applies to any job that has a concept of "customer" associated with it in any manner, which is most of the jobs out there. I can't think of one where it's the other way around except for maybe pattern day trading.

The most thrilling hunt of all.... the sale!
After all these years I can still say that selling is the most exciting thing that I know of.

well, most gun shops I've been to, aren't like that.

you'll only hear when they got something to bitch about, they won't compliment you on how good you're doing! I'm sure the customers appreciate it. some of them anyways... keep up the good work!

My first retail job, my first week I helped an old lady and we got a letter from her praising my help....weird thing was, the whole card was written in such a matter as that when you read it, it sounded like a christmas carol...it rhymed and everything!

The key to customer servive is to let the customer think he is right while doing the best for the company.

I was with some younger kids (early 20's) one day. I was explaining to them the process that goes into making a Rizzini R-1 and whay that gun cost almost $70,000. Well my belly was bothering me from the chili fries I had at lunch and I couldn't hold on any longer. Just as I let it go a guy walked in, came right over the the R-1 display and then promptly left. One of those kids then smelled what I had left and stated "oh my gosh, that guy just walked in her, farted and then left". I was saved.[:I]

I have always said that we could al make a nice living in this country if some would get off their cans and go to work and others would pay a good wage for a good days work. You folks in retail sure get the shaft. Employee performance and loyalty is a commodity that should be rewarded.

If a person can't make a living wage without some jackass in the government wanting to "take care of you" we are screwed. Greed is going to kill this country

My philosophy also. Of course that sometimes has backlashes, but so be it.[:)]

Yes, and what is your point?
Without customers, you have NO business.
If a customer gives you a bad time, such as bounces a check or worse, a retailer sometimes takes it out on a good customer by being snippy or rude. The good customer has no idea what kind of day you had, nor is it any of his/her concern. If a person can't be polite every day, they should not be in retail.[:D]
