on a muzzleloading rifle AK and HI will be higher! wth why 35 to ship a rifle when it can be sent to your door, no transfer fees?

    It still has to make it to your door. High yes, but someone must be paying it or they would have lowered it by now..

    Maybe no one is complaining about it.If you think shipping is too high,simply don't bid on it OR email the seller and see if the price can be brought down.

    UPS just made a huge savings in fuel costs by writing a new program that pre-programs their delivery routes to eliminate as many left turns as possible which reduces long waits in the left turn lanes at stop lights. Their stock actually took a little jump after the fact. Most UPS costs are very fixed which makes their rates incredibly sensitive to fuel costs because other variables aren't all that variable so there isn't much they can do to play with them to keep their service cheaper.

    It costs me $50 to have my dealer ship a gun (any gun) to another FFL. That includes packing, shipping, insurance and use of my dealer's FFL. I'm paying for time and convenience. I charge $30 in my auctions and eat the rest.

    in todays economy, 35.00 is a drop in the bucket. the average home makes 85 grand a year. cell phones cost 100's of bucks. a pack a smokes is close to 5 bucks. 35 is nothing.

    I spend about $10.00 on materials alone. NEW Bubble wrap,NEW box, tape, etc. plus actual shipping. I generally charge $25.00 to ship a long gun. What's $25.00 on a 5-800.00 gun? Bobski is right on. No one ever complains about the condition of the gun when they recieve it! I've recieved guns that I paid $30.00+ for shipping that looks like a 2 year old packed it. I bought a 20 gauge BSS Browning Sporter from some idiot in Texas a few years back. NO bubble wrap just a little newspaper and a crappy WELL USED box. The Postal system destroyed the gun because of VERY poor packing. Why wouldn't a guy spend a few bucks on packing materials and do it right on an expensive gun? I sent that Browning back and got refunded. He said, it arrived packed great! How could the postal system wreck it. I said That's how you should pack it in the first place.
    Sorry about the rant but a crappy soft case, flimsy box, and a little newspaper to travel half way across the country just doesn't cut it with me!
