    My cousin got a Lorcin 380 recently. It was given to him. He had no desire to buy "the most affordable handgun in the world", as there slogans says, but hey, it was free.

    We shot it 7 times. Took it apart. Put a pin back in place, and shot 8 more rounds out of it. Affordable is not synanumous with quality.

    Anyway, it got me thinking. I have a H&R 32. It either belonged to my grandfather or great grandfather. We found it in my parents house in the corner cabinet of the kitchen. It was an old farm house where all three generations have lived.

    This economical mini handgun is in very good condition. Functions well, and has no rust. The inside of the barrel looks great.

    I know it is not worth much. There is ussually one or two of these in any picture of a police department hand gun turn in program.

    Anyway, it is in fine condition. Should I shoot 20 rounds through it for the heck of it, or just leave it alone?

    If I owned it I'd have to shoot it. I won't buy a gun ya can't shoot, I'm not a collector and safe queen buyer.

    To own a gun and not shoot it, unless doing so would destroy it, is just plain WRONG!! Collector's value be damned!
    BTW: What IS that little piece worth, approximately?

    Mossbergs usually don't produce any collectors interest. Utility guns made for useage and available for less money when sold new. I would not pay that amount myself, but if someone wants a as new mossberg .22 bolt action to use, then go for it. Just beware that once fired and used as such, the rifle will lose from 1/4 to 1/2 of the investment purchase price.

    Not too bad a price for a great shooter. A bit rich for my blood but it's definitely a shooter. Not a very large club of Mossberg collectors out there, so far as I know. Bet it is a dandy.

    If not, then what is this caliber? Nice rifle, I suppose, but, not likely to ever be a good investment as a collectible. More of a curiosity, I think.

    ...have enough .22's. I have a 142B(?) Mossy that is a little tack driver and holds like 20+ LR's in a full length tube mag, never new one that held THAT many rounds. Beautiful walnut w/a fine raised ck/pc...a lot nicer looking than that one...and I paid $60 bucks for it about 3-4 years ago.

    If I bought that, it would be to give to my gran son in a few years, or throw in the safe for my wife to sell for top dollar when I become room temp...it will go up if left unfired, not a lot...but a good bit...[;)]

    The rifle is in 22 magnum. There was an earlier cartridge- the 22 WRF- but this is not it. The 22 WMRF is 22 mag. Rifle started mfg in 1959. So did the 22 Mag. There IS a mossberg collectors association (havlinsales.com) Run by Vic and Cheryl Havlin- really nice folks. Mossbergs are not collected with the same zeal as Winchesters, Merkels, etc- but for my money, were one of the nicest shooters made. Their motto was "More gun for your money". And yeah, I would HAVE to shoot it.

    It's only a Mossberg. It it were more collectable I would say don't shoot it.

    Don't shoot it, buy yourself a Marlin 25MN and shoot the crap out of it instead. Than NIB rifle will only increase in value the older it gets. Leaving it NIB is you're best advantage at adding to it's value.

    I wouldn't shoot it.

    Got more .22's than Carter's got pills to shoot now.

    Wouldn't give that much for it for investment purposes although it would be neat to have tucked away.
