Adobe PDF question

I have been emailed an Adobe file that is about six pages long with spaces that I need to fill in on the document. For whatever reason I can't just click on the blank spaces and add text. What can I do to fix this. I'm kind of stuck in a bad spot without being able to do add text to this document.

Any help would be great.

  I have been stuck in the same spot. I typed the thing into word.
  
  It is possible to convert a word file into adobe but not the other way around.

  You must have Adobe Acrobat to edit a PDF file. Adobe Reader, which is free, will not permit any changes or edits. The PDF document you open with Adobe Reader is static, i.e. locked. The individual who sent it to you probably did not save it as a "text entry" eligible file.

  Adobe PDF. Wish I could help,but every time I open somthing in Adobe PDF my first thought is OH JEEZE![:0].I'm waiting for my son to come home on a weekend and get me started on power point.

  Same comment as above. Reader will let you read but not write. It is free = the reader program.
  
  I finally broke down and purchased the whole works. I need it to send secure non modifilable documents.
  
  I still don't know jack about it but I can make it for the most part do what I want it too for now.

  I always thought the whole point of PDF was that it can't readily be altered....

  What he said. You can create a file in Acrobat that has fields that can be filled in. Whoever sent you the file messed up.
