That's what it was the last time I checked, too. Congratulations to Travis on his promotion.

Congrats!...only one step away from an NCO...and that could be a lateral step technically.[8D]

Specialist is an E-4. I am one. It looks like the green thing in my signature.

    Cool!

He should go for Warrant Officer -- best job in the Army!

Congrats to him, sounds like he's doing well. A promotion of course is call for a celebratory give away...something big, expensive, fully automatic, and perhaps legal.[:D]

If Specialist is E-4, what is E-3? He was a PFC, and I thought that was E-2.

What is a Specialist, anyway? Is that what used to be called Corporal, or is there still a Corporal rank?

Specialist is e-4, PFC is e-3
Corporal is e-4 also, IIRC, corporal is a command/leadership position
VS specialist being a technical position.

Zulu, back in the old day (not the really old day, but the recent old days) the Army had Specialist E-4, E-5, E-6, E-7, E-8 and E-9. I notice on my chart there is only Specialist E-4, E-5 and E-6. In your list you only mention Specialist E-4. Has the Army done away with Specialist E-5 and E-6?

Yes they have done away with Spec5 and above.

That was done before I went in over 17 years ago.

    Congrats Travis![:D][:D]

Congrats to Travis. I kinda think he might need to sign up for OCS before he gets promoted to general, but I sure it is pretty much a done deal if he gets through OCS.
