Girl, 7, Shot 6 Times While Protecting Mother
Wednesday, December 05, 2007
A Detroit girl who jumped in front of a hail of bullets to protect her mother from an enraged gunman Saturday night is being hailed as an "angel from heaven."
Alexis Goggins, 7, was hit protecting her mother Selietha Parker, 30, after Parker's ex-boyfriend Calvin Tillie, 29, forced the pair and family friend Aisha Ford to drive to Six Mile Road under threat of death, the Detroit News reported.
Tillie, who was armed with a handgun, shot Parker in the side of the head and in the arm after Ford stopped for gas, but before he could fire a third shot, Goggins jumped over the seat between her mother and Tillie, begging him to stop, the Detroit News reported. Without hesitation, Tillie reportedly pumped six shots into the child.
The first grader is in stable condition at Children's Hospital in Detroit with gunshot wounds to the eye, left temple, chin, cheek, chest and right arm, the Detroit News reported. Parker was admitted to the hospital, but later released.
Tillie was arrested at the scene. He had dated Parker for six months, the Detroit News reported.

You're missing the forest for the trees....the little girl is still alive. And your next thought is probably...."well, this wouldn't have happened in the first place if there is a God", right, but things do happen for a reason. I could say God doesn't exist because he's made my husband go through kidney failure TWICE in 12 years. He's now on dialysis for the second time after going through one kidney transplant, waiting on another one. But you can't think that way. God has a plan for every single human being - you just have to trust. And TRUST this, God has a plan for Kelvin Tillie too.0 -

If that's your take on it, than yeah. I sure have my fair share of pessimism but what good does it do? I'm a mother of an 8 year old son and this story breaks my heart. Only parents know that feeling. I think God's plan for this situation is geared towards the mother of this little girl as a major freakin' wake up call to grab some self esteem and be more careful whom she picks and chooses in her life from now on.0 -
When this GOD of yours acts out in the open so every body can see the myth, Then and only then will I concerder him as a GOD.
Your GOD has a plan is not logical. How many children have to starve to death for you to stop that silly grin on your face? How many innocent children nave to be burnt to death or beaten to death?

It is a pretty lame and uncreative God who, apparently wanting to achieve some good (I assume he doesn't want to achieve any evil) stands by and lets some tiny, totally innocent child take 6 bullets to just prove some unknown point or goal. Points such as to send her mother a lesson in who she picks up, or send the young girl to a hospital where she suffers and nearly dies (maybe this will cause the girl to become a physician and heal thousands of people, yeah that must be the good that comes out of this), or some other elite "Godly" plan that requires terrible suffering for a helpless child.
Until someone can explain the bad that God let's happen, don't even try to explain the good. Hell, explaining the good is easy. Pick the hard part of the job and explain the bad to me or be quiet and love your harsh God.0 -

Answer me this. God is perfect, all knowing and all powerful. God already knew at the time your husband was a newborn baby that your husband was headed for extreme kidney failure not once but twice. Now since you are only observering kidney failure, and not experienceing it, it is a whole lot easier for you to just roll over, sigh, and declare it is nothing worse than God's will. But for your husband, or anyone else actually having kidney failure, it is a lousey, miserble way to have to exist. So since God knows and and is all powerful, why did he more or less plan such a horrible experience for your husband. Plan it from the time your husband was a newborn baby?
And please don't give me the crap about how maybe your husband's suffering is for a greater cause or to act as an example for others. For a perfect, all powerful entity, surely there are better and more humane ways to achieve such goals. If your God doesn't know this, then he needs to study up on it.0 -

My, my what a cute putdown on the 'ol foxster. Is that how Jesus responded when he encounter doubters?
Is such a sarcastic comment the way you respond to "severely retarded" people in your neighborhood when you encounter them in person? Or do you just throw out grade school names at people on the internet from the safety of you computer shack?
In addition to that, how about instead of throwing childish insults, you actually explain something to me about your religion that you yourself has brought to the table. If I am indeed "severely retarded" the God made me that way or left it happen that way, since he is all knowing and all powerful. In effect, he has approved of me being "severely retarded" and he knows full well what I will and will not do in my lifetime that may or may not cause me to deserve one of his "miracles" to cure me of my "retardation". So basically the outcome of my "illness" has already been preordained and no amount of praying or expecting miracles should have any effect on my "retardation".
Correct?0 -

Hmm....good questions! When I first met my husband, he explained to me his first dialysis experience and transplant where he almost died because they injected him with an experimental drug called OKT3 at the time - this was around twelve years ago. Had the reverend there doing the last rites, etc. He then told me "now, this probably will happen again because transplanted kidneys only last about 7-9 years at the most (his lasted 10). Are you willing to stay with me if this happens again?" I never gave it a second thought. And please don't assume you know what my thoughts are when I lay down in my bed every night. After swapping posts with you, all I can sense from you is hostility. I'm sorry you've had such bad experiences along the way, I really am. I just feel, not know, that God does do things for a reason. I'm not here to convert anybody, by all means. But at the same time, I'm not going to get angry or hostile towards you because you feel differently. Sorry.0 -

God has a plan for every single human being - you just have to trust. And TRUST this, God has a plan for Kelvin Tillie too.
OK. No matter how bad it gets, its all good. Is that it?
If that's your take on it, than yeah. I sure have my fair share of pessimism but what good does it do? I'm a mother of an 8 year old son and this story breaks my heart. Only parents know that feeling. I think God's plan for this situation is geared towards the mother of this little girl as a major freakin' wake up call to grab some self esteem and be more careful whom she picks and chooses in her life from now on.
Pick the hard part of the job and explain the bad to me or be quiet and love your harsh God.
I'm starting to get the impression that explaining something to you would be like passing gas in the wind.
Sounds to me like you are getting mildly irritated that I don't buy into your fairy tale. Is this the reaction Jesus would offer?
If your God doesn't know this, then he needs to study up on it.
Sorry.
If your husband treated you as harshly as your God has treated your husband, you would abandon him in a minute. A lot of people are desperate to believe what they are told. Told by other mere mortals or read from writings written by mere mortals.0 -

For those of you who blame God for the bad that happens...have you considered that just maybe....satan might be to blame????
Well then why wasn't God there to stop Satan? God knew what was going to happen and to stand by and let a brave little girl get shot 6 times is a terrible thing to do.
You're missing the forest for the trees....the little girl is still alive. And your next thought is probably...."well, this wouldn't have happened in the first place if there is a God", right, but things do happen for a reason. I could say God doesn't exist because he's made my husband go through kidney failure TWICE in 12 years. Yes you are right tr fox. Our God is a knowing, loving and powerful God that performs miracles everyday. I am sure someday he will perform one for you, so you are not severely retarded anymore.

Huh....can't answer that. I guess I'll cross that bridge if I get to it. But again, I'm sorry that obviously you were put in that position at one time.0 -

Fox, you are outgunned (outnumbered?) here on this forum. I had this place pegged for what it is within a week of signing on. Joe
Yet after 1200 posts and counting, you're still here....you must like it. ;-)
Correct. Mostly on the "experts" forum. I jump over to "general discussion" when I have no paint to watch drying. Joe
Kinda reminds me of people that just have to publicly declare how much they dislike something but secretly feel the opposite. Me thinks the gentleman doth protest too much or something like that anyway. :-)
You're good! Keep up the good work! I'm sure there's enough kindred spirits here on general discussion for you to bond with. Have a rainbow day. Joe0 -
