They'd get more respect from me if they were doin' it in a 500 horsepower '65 Barracuda.

Never been all the way up to the North Slope but did drive the AlCan back in '76 - before it was paved - up and back. Since the road's only open during the summer months it's run 24 hours a day seven days a week - at about 70 Mph. None of those guys would pull over and sleep at night - there were all kinds of fatalities as the heavy equipment transporters were still being run up there. Since it was cheaper to blow up broken equipment, than to wait for repair parts and spend the time to fix it, there was also an endless stream of that coming back - at up to 70Mph. Unless you've seen it, you've got no idea what that looked like/means.

No siree - not me - not even when I was a lot younger and much stupider!

... but I do respect them - can't imagine doing it - even once!

I saw a documentary on them once on the history channel. I can see doing a 1 hour show, but a whole series? Not gonna watch.

I tried to set the TIVO to record it....and it thinks its a show...not a series....didn't even give me the option to record a "season's pass."

Driving a truck in a whiteout has a pucker factor that's off the scale.........Across a frozen lake in the middle of nowhere? Ain't a paycheck big enough.
