No, that is how he justified getting the Brady Bill passed! He PERSONALLY ensured that it passed. Had he not made those phone calls.....they would have been 4-5 votes SHORT.

Despite his stance on guns where his actions spoke louder than his words, I would like to remind all so-called Republicans in the Bush camp of this quote from Reagan:
"Whatever else history may say about me when I'm gone, I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears; to your confidence rather than your doubts."
It speaks volumes that Reagan won re-election telling us we could do better as opposed to Bush, who told us we would fail.0
